Hello I don't expect to be heard as I already have been but here is my story anyway. My family of 3 all went to the ren fair (My Wife, Daughter and I) found a homemade dice stand and I'd been searching all over the internet for a long time for my dice set. They had a deal that you could buy a 15$ quick press pack they were re selling but if you rolled the d 20 and and got a NAT 20 you could pick any set of custom dice you'd like. My wife talked me into it I proudly proclaimed Dice Christ was with me and threw my dice in the tower as requested and got my first ever nat 20 for my first dice roll for my first set of dice. Everyone lost there shit the seller stole the bad pack and put the 20 in a necklace to (gain its power) amd I found a beautiful red and blue liquid core set with golden numbers that I really really love. Your show is extremely endearing and inspiring thank you all for simply being good.

I’m running a Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign in which the players are currently heading into the eye of a hurricane to stop Tharizdun from corrupting it and laying waste to the mortal plane. Naturally, the players have asked that the next session be Christmas themed. I know that they’ll be travelling to an underwater settlement and delving into a temple. I was wondering if you had any tips for merging seasonal concepts into well-established campaign settings. My thoughts thus far are that the underwater settlement is guarded by the spirits of those lost at sea (making the whole place look like a snowglobe) or an underwater Old Guppy-style Santa. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

As a novice dm myself I sometimes struggle with finding a compromise with wrangling little grimlin players, with such chaotic players yourself, how do you find the balance between letting their shenanigans go on and getting things back to focus? Hey gang, serious question here for mister Murph. What do you do about chaos goblins? I have just finished a second tpk on my players because of 2 separate players deciding against the group and going rogue. The first time our warlock initiated a fight that they were specifically told not to. By PC's, npc's, and out of game. The second our party rogue attacked a giant mushroom worm after combat ended and a truce was made between the party and some feywild creatures. Each ended in all but the cleric surviving and he in turn revivifying who he could. This happened by two separate people and I was at a loss as to how to continue the story. Is there any way to reel in the pure chaos (side eyeing Emily) that a player can bring or should a good dm just roll with it and just adapt to PCs constantly dying because of their bizarre choices.

I wanted to give you all a shout out for something that I don't think you guys necessarily get praised for enough. The sound quality in this podcast is great. As someone who is deaf/hoh, it can be very difficult for me understand what people are saying. I've had to drop several shows because I just couldn't follow what was being said, but I have never had that problem with you all. I guess if I had an actual question for youse guise, it would be: do you have any recommendations for someone looking to get a mic to do their own recording? I recently got implants and can no longer wear anything over the ears without causing a feedback loop.

I’ve always been curious: In DnD, and improv in general I guess, how do you all handle tension/frustration while you’re performing? For instance, while you’re waiting for Jake to show up, the Grinch bursts into the office and drags all the electronics out of the door. Then 10 minutes later Jake walks in ready to record, but you notice a look of mischief in his eye and a small tuft of green fur on his shoulder. Obviously you’re all running late and don’t have time to address it before cleaning and getting started, so what happens next?

Hey Duck Team! I'm getting to DM my first mini-arch over the Hoglidays and I'd love some advice! The arch is set in a prison where the party (a pit-fighting barbarian, archeologist rogue, and wisecracking bard a la the Jolly Jester) wakes up and has to escape. The prison is on an island off the coast of the continent and is multi-leveled with different encounters they can interact with to gain information and access to the other rooms and floors. Think The Boiling Rock from Avatar the Last Airbender mixed with Azkaban from Harry Potter, but for a bit of flair, the floors of the prison move independently like the cogs in a machine. Because of the alignment, they have three days to reach the top level, steal an airship, and fight the BBEG: The Warden (who since it's the Hoglidays might be wearing a furry green suit, or hell might just be the grinch himself...) before having to wait until the floors align again. I've built out a ton of NPCs, puzzles, and ways they can ascend the prison to freedom but I can't help but feel like the arch is missing something. Any and all your advice is welcomed for this new DM! I love the show and I'm so grateful you all inspired me to start playing dnd a few years ago and try my hand at DMing! Humble NADDministrators, I need you to weigh in on an ongoing debate I’ve been having with a friend for about 15 years. Please pay close attention to the phrasing: “What would kill a person faster — 3 wolves, or 1 grizzly bear?” We have asked countless people this question, and each new participant adds information to the debate. We’ve learned that it isn’t just about sheer strength or physical ability. Supposedly wolves stalk their prey for sometimes extended periods of time; we’ve learned that grizzly bears often will do several false charges before actually engaging in combat. There is also some debate over the intelligence of each animal and how easy it would be to either distract or dissuade it from attacking. This question is not about what is stronger or more dangerous. It is not about what would win in a battle against one another. It is about what will kill a human person FASTER. Thank you for your thoughtful participation and hopefully we can finally put this to bed. I would like you to consider both sides of this argument before I give you my answer - because I want to avoid any bias that may be given to the question asker. I have always felt that although there are 3 wolves with gnashing claws and jaws, I believe that once the battle commences with a grizzly you are pretty much toast. Hi guys. I just wrapped up session 6 of a campaign. I’m first time DM. Everyone seems to be having a lot of fun and my players told me they can’t wait till we come back from break so they can keep playing. I asked for some feedback from my players about how to improve and they mentioned that when I’m not DM I’m very good at yes anding the bit. But in game I can be a little “rigid”. Ok, I asked this last time, but it didn’t get chosen and I’m super curious lol. My husband and I recently started watched Big Cities Greens, honestly just because of Caldwell (we excitedly yell “Caldwell Tanner!” when we see his name like we know him personally…we’re super cool). How much did Greens (especially Cricket) inspire the crick and vice versa. I feel like there had to be some overlap between the two!!! Also, it’s important to me for you know that if you play the call of Cthulhu rpg, all skill and fight rolls are made on a D100 and you want to get as low as possible. So a 2 would be an almost perfect roll. Might be fun for the 2 crew

To Murphious, it's mentioned that you mainly edits the podcast. I can imagine that must take quite a long time per episode. I know Eminity makes most of the music but do you source the SFX? Do you do mastering as well? What does the editing process look like, how long does it take and what editing software do you use? Midway through the walk, you glance down an alley and see what seems to be a battered and bloodied Grinch and Sonic in a WWE style test of strength. It’s hard to tell if they’re real or costumes after a long night of inebriation. The Grinch notices you and calls “Help me! This thing is trying to mug me or something!” But Sonic replies “No, help me stop this criminal!” Tails and Max are nowhere to be seen, but you hear more scuffling down the alleyway. question for murph (and probably emily) - how do you keep track of the repeated music cues that stay consistently tied to specific emotional beats throughout the different campaigns? i’m sure some are easier, like “a bastard no more” being for hardwon and “kingshammer” for weapons, but with some that are used less often but stay consistent, do you have notes or refer back to old episodes (or perhaps a secret third thing)? ps the music is always absolutely wonderful but in recent episodes has been especially devastating (in a good way)

Hi Naddpoodles This is a little bit longer so I understand if you don’t include it, but I think would make for a really cool hearthside chat discussion now that the second main Bahumia campaign is coming to close. I recently re-listened to C1 , and was reminded me of a darker alternate universe version of the ending that I thought of back when I first finished C1, and I would like to hear everyone’s thoughts on what that would have meant for their characters. Moonshine: What if the solution with Pendergreens never came through and she instead got her way and played the sacrifice card and became the Cursed Queen of the Nine Hells? How would her otherwise kind and hospitable character progressively buckle under the crown’s pressure? Also what if she accepted the thinking cap’s and Tijuana’s statements of her being the Queen of the Elves, I felt Murph mentioned it a few times but Moonshine brushed it off. Hardwon: What if instead of being allowed to retire peacefully to the Crick like he wanted, he had to own up to the responsibility of being the first true wielder of the United Queens Hammer in an age and become the Bastard King of the Mountain and essentially be King of all Dwarvenkind. How would he handle that responsibility in addition to the vitriol in response to him being a half elf. Beverly: Beverly has always been a little zealous in how he viewed his idols, Pelor, Thialla and his father. However, throughout their adventures Thialla breaks her oath, kills Pelor, and his father joins forces with Akarot, aka the devil himself. Also remember that Beverly almost joined up himself with both Thialla and Akarot on separate occasions. Deeply affected by the loss of everyone he looked up to I think his naturally zealous nature might eventually see the solution as being having to rise to Godhood himself, becoming the Gilded God (I got gilded from Toegold), and become what those he looked up to couldn’t live up to. Would he became twisted by power like Thialla or be cool like Pelor?

When Campaign 3 was first being teased - Mothership was originally going to be called "Alan Inc" (Pronounced like Alanis from Campaign 1). Because of this - I always thought Alanis was going to pop up at some point throughout the campaign and have some level of responsibility for creating Alexandrite. Was that ever a part of the plan? It's Christmas Day in Whoville, and you're enjoying a lovely feast with your family, and the Grinch. After he inexplicably saved Christmas, it only seemed right to invite him to enjoy the day. But then it hits you like age 40 hit Cinnamon. The Grinch's originally terrible demeanor changing to sudden and exuberant support of Christmas could be explained by microcardia, and then a cardiac event during the period of exertion trying to push the sleigh. As the greatest cardiac surgeon Whoville has ever seen, you feel obligated to help this strange furry green man. You rush the Grinch to Whoville memorial hospital for an emergency series of tests where your worst fears are confirmed. Without a heart transplant within 48 hours, the Grinch will die. The odds of finding a matching donor heart within this time period are astronomically low. You tell your wife, the hospital's Chief of Medicine, the grim news. To which she responds, "If it were me, I would want to know. But the odds of saving him are so low, and he's finally truly happy. Maybe it's best to let him go with a smile on his face." While you're considering whether or not to let the Grinch die happy and ignorant, you hear a comically loud "WHOOPSIE DAISY" from outside. Almost immediately after, you see a furry green man with accents of grey swing to his death from a string of Christmas lights he seemed to be attempting to steal from the hospital. ID found on the body is that of one Damien Grunch, the Grinch's father. Testing concludes that the Grinch's father is indeed a match for a heart transplant, and had a healthy heart. One problem: He wasn't an organ donor. Do you steal his father's heart, saving the Grinch, but returning him to his Grinchy self? Or do you let the Grinch pass, unaware he ever could have survived, but still knowing true joy?

I know you didn't ask me, but I've always found that having some part of the arena that must be interacted with really helps. One of my favorite combats I ever ran was a chase inside a train.
