Check out NADDPod's Patreon exclusive after show! This week, we discuss the events of C3 Ep. 38: Burrowing Grounds.
As an eastern Canadian, the only beetles I remember seeing are from the Mummy or BeetleJuice

I'd love A Crickmas Carol one shot. Ghosts of NPCs visit Hardwon and help him get his Crickmas spirit back.

I can confirm no deaths have occurred out of the orcas sinking ships and only three have fully sunk. There is a bunch of fun merch about it on Etsy if you are interested

I know I’m a bit late to to comments, but on the off chance Caldwell reads this. I highly recommend looking up the Beetroopers archetype for yugioh. They’re just a bunch of lil ol beetle soldiers

Some of the funky colouration on various beetle and insect carapace as well as butterfly wings is a result of tiny prism like crystal photonic cells that refract light to produce colour rather than the pigmentation that gives many other animals their various colours (including us!). That’s why the colours on many beetle shells are iridescent/metallic looking, don’t fade as much over time, and even change colour when they are in different liquids thanks to how light interacts with the crystal cells differently.
As for why they evolved, we aren’t super sure. Some propose that the “structural” colour of photonic cells is more efficient, and they are direction-independent so great for camouflage. But in general it seems they just allow bugs to be more colourful than otherwise possible with pigment, they evolved to be as funky as physically possible!

As the person with tarantulas, I feel very seen and also want to state that a maltese tarantula would be a terrifying, mazing mop- but a poodle spider is almost already a thing- it's a curly hair tarantula.
I do want to inform you, spider barber products are really supposed to be a secret. Please don't share this info as the infrastructure to import such items are ALSO tiny so it's difficult to get these products.

Caldwell said something about animals with human hair being disconcerting, but I have to think he must have never heard of crested ducks. Seriously look them up they are like completely normal ducks except they have a these head feathers that look like poufy pompadours and they are absolutely charming.

Firmly pro orca. It’s not atypical for populations of orca to develop what we perceive as hobbies and games. A population near Vancouver island Canada would kill salmon and try to balance those salmon on their heads for as long as possible, expressing joy to the orca that did it the longest. A population near Norway enjoyed smushing jellyfish onto their nose and holding it as long as possible. A population near alaska got super into playing with kelp. From the videos I’ve seen of the orca encounters with boar rudders near Gibraltar, they seem to be expressing joy and play rather than calculated strikes from below. I think this is just another population of orcas discovering a new game they like, and luckily for us it’s at the expense of rich people. Wes Larson spoke about this on tooth and claw.

As an arachniphobe, I have the policy of "Know thy enemy"- tarantulas can throw their hair as a defense which have a fluid similar to stinging nettles. They can cause allergic reactions. Super neat but icky
