Caldwell's crone voice gives me life

Oliver

I am listening so far after this came out, but couldn't you just ban dogs on mike? I mean, as a SERIOUS dog person, I wouldn't let my amazing and delightful pupper interrupt the scene, just as I wouldn't allow my adorable child to interrupt. Come on, folks. Just ban on mike interruptions, right? I wish people were more kind and sensitive.

Also as a dm with a service dog, who is thereby incredibly well trained, and quiet unless he’s telling me I’m about to have a seizure, which he also does quietly but will jump on me so I can take medication and lie down. As a dm who uses discord video, I think banning dogs from dnd is wild, so many cat butts right up against the camera. And that is the right of a cat as a chaotic good/neutral creature!! Cats can be on the camera, good luck getting them to stop, dogs can be on the camera, but interrupting the game, and turning on your sound just so people can hear a dog howl or whine is insane. Also it’s the kind of behavior a dog displays when it isn’t getting enough exercise or attention, take the dog for a walk out of the game.

Brynnah

Get the guy out of the game! It sounds like he’s the one who doesn’t care about being present at the virtual table! It’s not a bad dog problem, it’s a bad person problem!!!

...The spell is specifically a wall of strong wind, not a wall of force. wall of force is a different spell. Wind is defined by the perceptible movement of air. Wind strong enough to prevent movement makes a lot of noise, almost to the point of deafening. So, every spell that doesn't specify it makes a noise is silent in your campaign? So Fireball is silent. Meteor Swarm, Wall of Fire, Maelstrom, Ice Storm, Tsunami, and Tidal Wave are silent. Thunder damage spells detail the distance at which they can be heard because they damage with the extreme concussive force, it is sound so loud it becomes physically damaging. They are extremely loud and can be heard for a larger distance than other spells, so it is specified. These spells evoke and summon controlled real elemental chaos. How were they punishing flavor? The spell itself details it is strong wind, that is not flavor added by Ranger, that is part of the spell. Wall of force is a wizard spell and is not on the ranger's spell list because their magic derives from their understanding of nature.

I can see Murph petting a cat in an evil castle saying “the world wasn’t made for people like us.” Trying to seat a hero to join his side

Joe D’Antonio

I don’t think wind spells make noise, because Thunder spells specify the amount of distance they can be heard from. Or the knock spell specifies that It can be heard. You’re punishing flavor by saying it makes a loud noise, if my wind wall was flavored as me force pushing a group, would it not be loud then? So at my table spells do what they say they do, to give my players the freedom to change what they look like without changing their effects.

Good Guy Josh

That guy is being bullied by dog lovers get the dog out the game

Armando Ocampo

I support Murph's stance on dog people just let cat people like cats in peace!

Don't ban dogs you'll be eaten alive, set up a time before or after the session for pet appreciation and ask that we keep pets from being a distraction during a session. Our game is irl and I've forced my best friend to push her dog off her lap because she was too busy talking to it to hear me say it was her turn. Also I don't like the idea of being dog or cat people I find it super strange. I like animals.

Jessica Cooper

I was about to say something but thanks for saying it for me lol

I hate to “um sweetie” Caldwell, but it’s pronounced Loo-fee not Luh-fee

Kris Barnes

I was in a similar situation where my partners character was in a relationship with a dmnpc. Now we have a Polycule.

Leah Stigale

Okay as not a dog person (tm) due to a dog tearing my arm open after they escaped a friend's house (I don't blame the dog, just was traumatic) I get that animals are cute and should be included sometimes. When my cats are doing something funny I would definitely mention it once or twice when appropriate HOWEVER if it's an intense scene I don't care if your cat has learned how to juggle bowling balls while singing ave maria it's not their time to shine

Briar Bertolin

Sleeping in my hammock outside because I thought I saw Caldwell in my closet

The thought of opening the monster manual for a random familiar and getting a terrasque is so funny to me
