A Marxist History of World War 2 - The Fall of France

Why did the much larger French army fail to combat the Germans in 1940? Why did the British and the French not support their Polish "ally" in 1939? Why does the end of the French 3rd Republic have so much to do with it's counter revolutionary beginnings?  These are the questions I examine in the latest episode of 'A Marxist History of WW2".

Outro Song is 'Le Chant Des Partisans'

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Next week will be all about the Soviet-German non-aggression pact of 1939.

Great episode as always Alex! I particularly enjoy your breaking down of the many mythologies that surround the ww2 era. In Australia we find ourselves frequently beaten over the head with the Churchill/bourgeois version of events with all it's typical whitewashings of honour, glory, Anzac spirit etc. The particular Marxist perspective that you offer I feel is essential, as it reveals the true political and cynical nature of the war. In addition to serving as the perfect antidote to the bourgeois bullshit we've been told all our lives, your analysis helps to understand the systemic properties of capitalism that cause such catastrophes as ww2 in the first place. Thanks for all your work!
