The Empire of Self Deceptions - Red Star Daiy #13

In this episode I look at the latest from the frontlines in Ukraine.  I then examine the attack on the Russian naval base in Sevastopol and ask what the British involvement may have taken the form of.  There is also the question of the infinite self deception engaged in by the EU over the sanctions on Russian energy.

In the concluding part of the episode I examine a question about last nights episode on the nature of fascism taking into consideration the example of the Spanish regime of Franco and the pre war Nazi regime.

Good question. I'll pick this up on the update tomorrow.

I don't remember you talking about this earlier in the war, so I'm curious what you think of the suggestion that Russia might have had other options besides the military one. For example, using its power over the European fuel supply by e.g., threatening sanctions, in order to leverage some concessions out of NATO or the EU. It seems conceivable that might have at least had some effect on whether those bodies would have let Ukraine join them, though perhaps not on Ukraine's policies towards the separatist regions.

I was actually thinking along similar lines so that's something that will definitely be on the cards in the near future.

Thanks for this bulletin and your responsiveness to audience comments. A few bulletins ago, you mentioned the historian Grover Furr and his scholarship involving revisionist histories of the USSR. I saw that he was recently a guest on another podcast and think it would be great if you had a conversation with him, either specificially about your WWII series or more generally
