Mass Shootings and Marxist Criminology

Also, it would be great for you guys to do an episode on alienation and violence and gender. Yes we see more overt violence coming from men but womens violence seems to be increasing too. It’s just more discreet and in care settings like in homes, against children and in aged care, disability, hospitals etc. So yeah this would be an interesting episode.

I finally got a chance to listen to this one. Many great points made and I will be checking pout marxist criminology. Btw for anyone who is interested there is a book called Sons on Cain: A History of Serial Killers from the Stone Age to the Present by Peter Vronsky. I would say it is a materialist explanation of serial killers. Capitalism points them as aberration when they are an extension of our society and largely target the people society already hates (addicts, homeless, prostitutes etc). The book goes into how some of our brutalities during the feudal era, industrialisation, urban, planning, commodification, WW2, Vietnam war and so much creates them. It doesn't excuse the biological aspects but puts it into the context of the environment. Anyway it was a great read and he makes a prediction that there could be a new generation of serial killers after 2033. https://www.mamamia.com.au/american-serial-killers/ .There is also a bit more on why there were so many more serial killers (well known ones) in the 80s. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45324622.
