we address it a bit more in p2. I agree that this is a part of Ben's analysis which I'd like to see further developed. might you have an article or book which you think better addresses the lowered level of R&D in the hydrocarbon industry :)

He made an incredibly, obviously incorrect series of claims that really discredited him in my eyes when he said - “the cost of energy development is prohibitive now… the chickens have come home to roost… operators of oil wells or gas wells found they couldn’t raise the capital or get the labor to increase production so of course there are increased shortages and rising prices.” This betrays a total misunderstanding of energy sector finance and the logic underlying the choices energy companies have made over the past few years.

yup, it's a limited critique, replete with a different set of class biases that nonetheless are just as limiting as the 'green' capitalist perspective.

The problem is you have "optimists" like George Gilder and George Will who will just critique in terms of capitalist ideology, not helpful.
