We sit with Jorge Martin of marxist.com to learn about the recent metalworkers' strike in Cadiz, and why it is a pivotal moment for the Spanish working class.

The CCP has been supporting the privatization of industries socialized after the revolution since Deng. The CCP has also destroy much of the social safety nets won by workers during the Maoist period. Top CCP bureaucrats are also wealthy capitalists, and use the state-owned banks push forward capitalist goals and bail out companies when they take on too much debt. The CCP surviving in this form was as a result of the fact that the CCP used foreign investment as a way of restoring capitalism, and did so more gradually than in the USSR. It was also successful in crushing a revolt by small capitalists for a 'proper' bourgeois democracy during Tiananmen Square. However, the political hegemony of the CCP is very fragile the party has been moving forward in the past two years to further liberalize the economy and political life. CCP is simply an authoritarian political instantiation of a fully capitalist country, I don't see why we should support it.

Just listened to the "Fall of the USSR Part 2" and found it interesting the comment that once Gorbachev allowed multiple parties in the Soviet Union the corrupt and traitorous elements in the Party could then openly oppose the Party and socialism. What do you think would happen if the same thing occurred in China, if the CPC allowed factions and eventually other parties to oppose it? Things would get much worse. The CPC being in power, despite its failings or flaws, is a good thing and should be supported. China is socialist.
