Next video is scrapped because... the subject of the video is literally dying, so here's a rough cut of its intro just for y'all

Yup.

The Let's Note I was making a video on decided to actually start dying.

I have just wasted several weeks of work BUT you exclusively get to see what I was working on so I guess it was not a waste after all :'

As of my last post here, I was working on a video where I turned a busted junk japanese $23 Panasonic Let's Note CF-RZ5 laptop into a small video monitor/video making companion machine.

Everything initially worked pretty well: I have bought it as junk, I have installed Linux on it but WHILE I WAS SHOOTING AND WRITING the mSATA slot on it just started to... die.

So, I decided: ok fuck it I will rework the video into booting Linux from an SD card and make the best of it, maybe some people are going to do this to some old broken laptops and it's gonna be cool and useful.

At first everything seemed to work just fine... but as it turns out the laptop actually freezes randomly now and I don't want to just ignore this issue and make a video pretending that everything is fine lying to everyone especially since the goal here was to show how you can fix e-waste... but sometimes you can't.

So, I have attached the intro for this scrapped second version of the video that was supposed to go up this week, and I will be moving immediately over to the next project. I am deeply sorry to anyone that was specifically interested in this video but I can't really do anything about it and wrapping it up suddenly just saying "nevermind, it died lol" in a video specifically about turning a dead laptop into something useful seemed like a disservice to y'all...

This combined with the irl stuff that has been happening lately has been quite stressful so: let's cut the losses, scrap this video and just move over to the next one!

Thanks again for your support, and I really want to stress: you are the reason why I can do this, scrap an entire project that I don't think was going anywhere and not have to entirely depend on sponsors and their very tight and stressful deadlines to survive.

I put quality and transparency above anything else in my work so yeah thanks again for LETTING me be able to keep doing it as the channel and my content grows more and more : '

unless something is visually broken, which would be what I would hope for cause replacing the slot wouldnt be too hard, I would otherwise think the issue would be the drive controller which could explain why it freezes on linux from the SD card

BTW F4mi, if you want a 10" laptop that actually works, do you know about the gpd win max 2? I've been using one since it came out and I'm basically in a cult all about it and it blows my mind every single day. And hope you're doing okay!! :) Somewhat joking aside, this video seemed really cool. Shame it didn't pan out, but thanks for sharing the intro!

Toughbooks are amazing! Recently had an optician visit my mother in law at home, and she was using a tablet Toughbook! It was awesome! (kinda wanted to steal it and make a YouTube video on it, but that would have been mean)

The donkey died doing what it loved... Kinda similar to the "other" donkey with wheels

Things aren’t made like they used to be, this is clearly a sign to get a PC-9801

I loved the video, i wanted to see more, and I'm a fan of those Panasonic toughbooks (even though i never owned one), and when i saw what you could do with that laptop it made sense why you used it as a portable monitor, but it's a shame it died on you. I might be crazy saying this, but i think you shouldn't scrap the video, i love the ending (your crazy laughter lol), i think you should continue making the video, saying "f#$& the laptop died", and then twist the subject into something else (such as buying old used tech is tough and unreliable, or make it about searching for your next portable screen and why you choose it) Or, hear me out, make it a video about Panasonic toughbooks, the history of it, why it's sold, who uses it (i think mostly cops and military) etc.. i think that could be a cool video to make, I'd watch it. Thanks for reading, love your videos, and good luck on your next video.
