Small update on the projects I am currently working on!

Hey!

Thanks as always for supporting the channel! You are the reason why I have been, for the past year, able to fully concentrate on the channel and post videos monthly (or at least try my best to do it somewhat reliably, I don't want to burn out), this has been a great year so far and I am super happy to be able to do what I love exactly how I want to do it.

So, I want to update you on what I am currently working on: as you have seen I have posted 2 videos in one month, with the second one being a dedicated analysis of how VALVe was neglecting a serious issue in the TF2 Source Engine branch leading to potential economy breaking exploits. That was a video I had in the works for a while and I ended up wrapping it up sooner than expected so I decided to just drop it right after the format wars one as a bonus.

While working on that video I have finally developed a way to record my process of creating and animating 3D scenes, meaning that, from the next video onwards, I will try to post here, consistently, some breakdowns of how I create some of those animations, and also maybe some other editing breakdowns too if you are curious about anything! I already did that with the Burnout video, and I would like to do it a bit more.

I am more than happy to share the way I do things here since you guys are as I said the main reason this is able to happen and economically feasible at all.

That said, I am working... well, on a lot of projects at the same time right now, my attention span is not the best, but there are two projects which are going to probably be next in line:

• A video about Panasonic Let's Note notebooks, focusing on the small 10.1 inche m5 netbook i recently imported from Japan (CF-RZ5) that's been my camera monitor for a while now, I haven't seen anyone do a proper video on these Japanese exclusive small nugget laptops, and I got one for pretty cheap (around 40 EUR). This laptop is insanely cool (pic related), it is a convertible 10.1 with a 1920x1200 and its CPU while not being the most powerful one ever made is beefy enough to be able to handle using OBS for monitoring 1080p60 footage coming through a capture card using quicksync and I am trying to make it work for recording too, since that would GENUINELY be a game changer and also a cool video in general to make I think. So yeah, this is probably the project that will come out sooner than later, since I have been tinkering with it for a while, taking notes and experimenting with it throwing all sorts of combinations of Windows and Linux to try and squeeze as much performance and convenience out of it as possible, mainly as a small "donkey"/"work horse" laptop to use and abuse as a machine to get video footage recorded/monitored without worrying too much about it (the unit I got is literally is dented on the outside case from the getgo and despite being super lightweight is built like a tank).

• FPGA video! Almost a year ago FunnyPlaying sent me a FPGA GBC and I want to make a video discussing if it's worth it getting an FPGA clone of a console at all for both "casual" audiences and enthusiasts, mostly focusing on how much it really is better compared to software emulation. I am thinking of maybe waiting a bit and also trying to snatch a MISTER FPGA to also have that as a testing machine for this entire technology, but we'll see.

• Japanese Android Flip Phones: another japanese thing I wanted to make a video on for a while now. I have recently obtained a japanese market SHARP Keitei that, despite having a completely conventional "basic phone" flip phone aesthetic and form factor ACTUALLY RUNS ANDROID and is generally a pretty fascinating machine. As it turns out, while in the west flip phones are mostly relegated to seniors now, in Japan they are still going being bought even by high schoolers and 20-30yos for several interesting reasons, so I really want to both explore the specific phone that I have and also talk about the phenomenon in general.

• nVidia Shield portable game console video: got this from Mark (same guy who gifted my the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray combo player) during my California trip, REALLY want to get into it and make a video about it. It is based on Android, was released in 2014 and it was meant to both be a streaming device letting you play stuff streamed locally from your computer BUT can also play some source engine games natively on it (there are official ports of HL2, episode 1, 2 and Portal 1 for it). So yeah, gotta test it more, but this is probably coming soon too!

These 4 are the ones that I feel like will be probably come out soon.

I will try to be consistent posting some updates while I work on them here, as a way to thank you for your support. I don't love spoiling videos in their entirety as I work on them, but I want to show you some work in progress like 3D animation work, or editing work, or as I did with the format wars video, giving you a sneak peek of the ENTIRE first part of the video before it's out.
