It’s not the genre of music I usually listen to so I wasn't familiar with Beyonce's works other than her hits. Tuned into the lemonade visual album because a course I took in college asked us to write an essay on it. After watching I was like... I WILL DEFEND THIS WOMAN TILL THE DAY I DIE. 😂 It was so obvious to me her bar was so high not only in music, vocals, lyricism, production, but in concepts, artistry, depth, and culture, that there’s no competitions from any of her peers. Then I was shocked to learn it didn't even win AOTY. THAT’s when it drove home to me the racism in the music industry, how much harder black artists had to work to get recognition the same way white artists do. How they have to compete with white mediocrity and it’s never enough. This album changed how I understood the music industry and who they reward, I was very uneducated on this but so grateful now.
Also, did't realise you could request in this tier, I know it's a long shot but gonna try my luck. It'd be cool if you could watch the concert for Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, the Milky Milky Tour. I've requested this album before on one of the Lana videos, for how experimental it was, but the concert version enhanced the artistry. Miley went through a hippie phase when making this and it'd be interesting to see dad's thoughts on it! Elton John called this album "spur of the moment, out of leftfield stuff ... that would have happened during the '60s". The concert was trippy, campy and just not like anything you'd see from a mainstream pop star. Miley's a veryyy interesting artist, it'd be lovely if you explore her music journey more!

Don’t know if it’s possible but another Patreon exclusive idea could be doing her Coachella film from when she headlined in 2018, “Homecoming” it’s on Netflix . 😁

Seeing Bey smash the windshield in Hold Up immediately took me to Michael smashing the windshield in the Blak or White video. That smash drove the folks really crazy during that time. Your dad should remember.

That is awesome. I’ll have to re-listen. The drums in WTLB were recoded in Jimmy Page’s house with microphones at the top of very high and winding staircase with the drummer, John Bonham on the first floor.

Her self-titled album is also a visual album, it’s epic! But it’s a separate music video for each song rather than a cohesive film like this.

Her live performance of Daddy Lessons with The Chicks at the CMAs is what drove Cowboy Carter into existence. In the intro track she is reflecting on being at that performance and how rude the crowd was. And she did NOT get a single CMA nom for CC 🙃

Loved the reaction, didn't think you guys would do the visual album, if you want something similar for Patreon only, when you react to Lana Del Rey's Paradise album there are two short films "Ride" and "Tropico" that are also music videos + poetry between, they're both stunning

Sandcastles always gets me too 😭 loved the reaction!! Just wanna add I think the last song, is just her way of reminding us she is THAT bitch! We go through the whole album like here’s the story, here’s some vulnerability but at the end of it all don’t forget who TF I am. Just feels like an empowering anthem to me 🙂↕️

Enjoyed the video! Some details:
- The interstitial poetry is from Warsan Shire
- The music box between tracks 3 and 4 was from the Swan Lake ballet by Tchaikovsky, in which a prince is seduced away from his princess by someone impersonating her, leading to her death. In the ballet, the same ballerina usually plays both the true princess and the imposter who brings all to ruin.
- The hanging moss is Spanish Moss

Still watching but commenting a fun fact, the drums on Don’t Hurt Yourself are actually a sample from Led Zeppelin When the Levee Breaks 🤩
