Progress Report

34,000 words. That's apparently how much story I've already written for Supermodel, it seems. It was shocking to see how lengthy even the game's first version is getting. For comparison, Long Live the Princess is slightly above 350,000 words, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is about 77,000, and A Game of Thrones is roughly 293,000. And I'm not even done writing for this version yet. This is going to get chunky.
Since last week, I have written one new full-length chapter, one smaller chapter, and I'm more than halfway through another large chapter. This last one is particularly interesting due to not having been a part of my original plans. This chapter is part of Vanguard's story and features what I imagined to be a brief flashback that would be one or two paragraphs long. But once I started writing it, I realized that it needed to be a full chapter on its own, and boy, does it pay off. A character like Vanguard, who possesses super-strength and physical invulnerability, can often be portrayed in very simple terms in stories like these. Not so for Vanguard. This action-filled chapter gives her a chance to truly shine and show off what she's capable of beyond pure strength. It's been really fun to write.
Once this chapter is done, the remaining story in this chapter should be somewhat low-key and straightforward, with a satisfying, mysterious cliffhanger at the end. Almost there now...
In addition to all of this, I finished the musical track I talked about last time. Phew! What a week!
Anyway, it's time for me to wrap up Vanguard's chapter. Like so much of the stuff I'm writing right now, it will be emotional while setting up a significant character arc. I can't wait!
