Progress Report
Added 2023-09-22 18:01:38 +0000 UTCGreetings, everyone!
First things first, let's talk about the attached music preview. Listen to it now, if you can.
The preview is a small part of one of the new tracks I have composed and finished for Supermodel, called Shards of Destiny. This track comes in two variants, one for tension and one for action. This is the action variant, and it will be strongly associated with an antagonist you will get introduced to in the first version. With this, you have a small idea of what I've been working on.
Apart from that preview, I've continued to work on the orchestrated version of the classical piece of music I mentioned in the previous update. This version has come quite far by now, but it still has some more work left to do. The big challenge with making orchestral music like this is that it requires so much fiddly detail work compared to synth-based music, at least if you want it to sound realistic (which I do). For example, when arranging a violin, I have to pay attention to its attack (the bow hitting the string), the change in pressure and intensity as the bow is dragged along the string, changes in bow direction, and transitions to the following note. It's a lot to pay attention to and needs to be handled properly.
Luckily, the results so far are better than I had expected. I've got some really neat legato passages for strings and woodwinds going, and it sounds suitably realistic. To me, the sound of this track currently evokes the music of early Hollywood, with bright, soaring strings and little focus on brass instruments.
I'm not entirely sure what I'll do once I finish this track. I might just continue composing for a while longer (as mentioned in previous updates), or I might decide to work on the writing and graphics for a couple of scenes, just as a change of pace. We'll see.
Until next time!

2023-09-22 19:45:56 +0000 UTCInteresting track, a lot going on within it, although you said this isn't the tension version, there is a level of tension built in with the descending progression, still toward the end a hint of resolution? Anyways, excellent composition as always!
