The last stretch to Vancouver

The final part of my Canada journey.

After just a few hours of sleep, we decided to start hitchhiking. Ashcroft, the place where we were staying, wasn’t a crew-change location, so no trains stopped there. Our goal was North Bend, a crew-change spot deep in the mountains.

A car stopped quickly. A woman picked us up because she saw Ranger, Ace’s dog. Ace told me that Ranger was a major asset: thanks to him, not only did he earn more while busking, but he also got rides from people much faster. I found that interesting, and it turned out to be true. When we split up to hitchhike separately, Ace got picked up almost immediately. For Jay and me, however, it was a different story.

We stood in the blazing sun for hours, without success. It got so hopeless that Jay decided to hitchhike in the opposite direction, planning to return to Kamloops. From there, he wanted to take a freight train back to North Bend, retracing the exact same route we had traveled the day before. I wasn’t on board with that idea. When Jay eventually found a ride to Kamloops, I chose not to join him. Instead, I stayed and kept hitchhiking. After six or seven hours, a kind woman finally stopped. The adventure could continue.

I’m so grateful that, with your help, I was finally able to make this journey happen. Thank you to everyone for your support. I hope you enjoyed the videos!

Hope the dog is still safe and sound. Craziness. Don’t like when people bring anyone innocent into some dangerous shit. Kind of ruined the experience watching for me a little bit.

Hey Gifgas, I really love and admire your work. I’ve been saving the vids YT has deleted that you uploaded to Vimeo. Would you ever upload the rest of your content there? I love having your content on my external drive and server so I can chuck it on to fall asleep to lol

Gifgas is able cross borders across Europe without going through any security checks, he can climb the highest buildings and sneak past security, he can escape from violent lunatics, but he can't get past a small padlock He needs to buy an automatic lock pick device so he can just say the door was already open if he gets caught in a secured area.

It would have been good to have seen the a video of the tweaker giving his theory on Jesus, and for all we know he might end up with his own religion one day.

Loved the series, your best work so far even comparing to the amazing Norway trip. Thanks for taking all of us for the ride, and as always stay safe!

Love getting these glimpses of how you experience the world man. It’s so interesting and also pretty inspiring, even though the adventures I go on are not nearly as crazy as yours. You might just be my favorite content creator out there!

What a nice surprise today. Looking forward to some peace and inspiration sometime this weekend. Thank you for this gift of your adventures and insights.

Some things I want to say about this Canada series are: I'm incredibly happy you finally made your dream come true. When I decided to become a Globetrotter member back then simply because I spent a few years of my childhood in Edmonton, kinda miss Canada, and wanna see it through your lens, and it turned out the trip was excruciatingly amazing! I also learned a lot from this journey, your hard work, your determination, your patience, your dedication (I mean that's how you always are, tho..). And that everything even our big dreams can start from our small steps. The only thing I hate about this part is that it's the last part! And we might have to wait for your next trip (I wonder where you'll take us next :D). Big thanks, Gif, live well and stay safe out there~
