“You can’t do this to me!” the woman screamed, jerking against the restraints that wrapped around her wrists. “I’m not–”

The pacifier stopped her raving. The bulb inflated slightly to press her tongue down to the base of her mouth, but more than that, she lost the will to shout. Nobody was listening. She’d been put down for processing, and now she was in the care of the machine. ‘

‘A danger to herself or others’, the paperwork had said. ‘Not to be trusted. Requires regression therapy.’

The paperwork had been full of lies, but the machine had no way to parse lies from truth. It trusted the information it was given, and nothing she could say would persuade it otherwise. It was perfect care, incapable of human error, incapable of human judgment.

So, no matter how much as she jerked and fought and spat, her fate would be the same. Restraints, to keep her from ‘hurting herself’, that would make her unable to use her hands, to stand, to move as an adult. Mechanical hands taped a diaper around her, her new toilet, the only thing she’d be allowed to use.

And then, the pacifier. The gag. The loss of her voice, so that her protests couldn’t even fall on the uncaring robotic ears that now controlled her life.

The arms would continue to take, until she was so helpless she’d be indistinguishable from a doll.

Safe. Protected. Ready for her reconditioning.
