That feeling when you know you’re about to stay up to finish a painting

“The oldest trick in the book” 16x20 on panel. Awaiting a very fine frame I picked out for it.
Despite writing “happy (whatever the date is)” on every single post, I had no idea it was this late in May.
In the words of Zach Galifianakis while being reprimanded for spending all their money on weed rather than gas and food to get home in the movie Due Date: “I don’t think in those terms.”
But, alas, this late date means I’m going to have to try and photograph this thing myself, which I really didn’t want to do.
I ordered some polarizing filters and stuff to help me get better photos of it. Assuming that works and I don’t annihilate my camera in a blind rage during the frustrating process, I’ll share some better close ups and explore the details and what I was thinking when I made this thing.
I don’t have the mental capacity for that right now because I was up until 4 am working on this. Then I had an appointment early this morning, which didn’t go too well, then a long day of drawing with kids which didn’t go too bad given my short crabby fuse today. However, I’m still burnt.
That feeling I get when I know I’m about to stay up to finish a painting is very exciting. It’s similar to when your closing in on finishing a book. You think you’re just going to call it a night after this one chapter, there’s too many more pages to finish tonight, but at a certain point you realize you just can’t let it go.
