EARLY ACCESS: Clip Studio Paint Animation Tutorial

For editing my video, since I no longer support Adobe products, I decided to give Da Vinci Resolve a try. Half of my time I was really enjoying it and thinking it was the best software ever! It can kinda combine After Effects and Premiere into one program! For the other half, I was frustrated and hated it. Mostly because of inexperience, but I think a lot of tasks which should be very simple (like zooming into the screen) ended up being complicated rabbit holes, and in the end I learned how to do it, but got immensely frustrated along the way with how hidden some of the settings and features were.

I'm so excited to have a new video coming out! I think it will be very helpful to anyone who's wanted to animate in Clip Studio Paint. Even experienced users should find some neat tricks in this video! It was a lot of fun to put together, and I really learned a lot making it!

Here's a little behind the scenes:

RECORDING IT

I started recording this on a whim.. I'd been learning how to animate in Clip Studio Paint for a while, and found it not very intuitive actually, haha. Once I learned how to use the light table feature, I felt like I could finally make a proper tutorial on it.

When I first recorded it, I kinda just winged-it, and went semi-in-order according to my bullet points. I was happy with the recording itself, but felt the example animation (which was just scribbles and a smiley face) wasn't very well-done, so I recorded it a second time!

It actually made for really good practice! Kinda like a rehearsal. Though I did end up using the intro which I liked better from this take.

EDITING IT

I've found a new tool that I like a lot for editing called TimeBolt. It automatically cuts out silences (which is most of what I do in editing) and it made my process a BREEZE! Editing it still took a long time, but I estimate it probably saved me about 10-20 hours of work.

Overall, I learned a lot, and I think I will still stick with Da Vinci Resolve now that I'm more familiar with how to use it, and I hope this new workflow will help me to put out videos more often!!

Thank you for supporting my work, and being a part of my journey.
