Love your work keep at it, Just pointing out something that confused me in this chapter pre-release From this quote: "My father once told me that Agre our faithful stonehound was worth at least ten thousand denarii. A horse is larger and would require more Cor in order to match its mass. To see twenty-one of these beasts in one place…the cost is staggering." This seems to imply there either a difference in the size of cor hearts or their is such a thing as partial core hearts or large animals can use multiple cor hearts. Given that the extra cor hearts were believed to be wasted on castor and we haven't seen any characters complaining about their cor heart being to small this feels strange. till now I understood cor to be whole singular units with one core heart per person or animal regardless of the creatures size so this information feels slightly jaring as a random line that's glossed over, and raises a ton questions. Right now as a reader I still don't even know what cor is well enough to think about variations in the quantity of cor an animal receives. Like are cor hearts made? Where do they really come from? Are the ones given to humans standardized somehow to match their size? Does a larger person need a larger cor heart? How would the amount of core received in a single heart impact thief strength? What if an animal finds a core heart that's too small for it naturally?
