Early Access: Russian Cruise Missile Bombardment in Ukraine

New video in early access: Given the recent (October '22) intensive bombardment of Ukraine by Russian cruise missiles, Dr. Justin Bronk from the Royal United Services  Institute joins me as we talk about the use and employment of cruise missiles, and what NATO can learn from this.

Hope you enjoy,
Chris

Early Access: Russian Cruise Missile Bombardment in Ukraine

I thought the video started a little rough, and I think much of the information presented by Dr. Bronk on cruise and ballistic missile technology is pretty basic. However, the discussion of how the Russians are using missiles intended for other purposes for their strikes on Ukraine (e.g., anti ship missiles or surface to air missiles against ground targets) was really quite fascinating as I hadn't realized what would be the outcome of using those systems in a role for which they are not designed. The best part of the video by far, and getting into Dr. Brock's area of expertise it seems, was the takeaways for NATO from the Ukraine experience. 100% the best part of the video for me, and I am 100% going to share this video with friends and colleagues. Overall, another excellent video!

Thank you for this video

This is a very serious conversation. Lots of good technical detail from how the missile works, how to defend against them. Lots of options on how to defend against these weapons. Go back to old school and barrage balloons? Somehow change the appearance of targeting areas so terminal guidance is confused.
