Ask Your Questions: Live Stream

I am planning to host a livestream next weekend, most likely on Saturday 13th (TBC). For this I would like to host a live Q&A session, with priority going to you as a channel supporter. As such, please submit your questions on this post so I can collect them in advance and answer them live on stream.

Looking forward to it!
Chris

Hey, I will try to answer this in a full video at some point, not in the Q&A though, will have fun witht his one :D

Military Aviation History

What subject that in your opinion remains relatively misunderstood are you most eager to cover in the future?

Nicholas Mew

Does learning more about a plane and the history/context and doctrine surrounding it change your opinions on it?

Nicholas Mew

Q/A. Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey: was there any other Luftwaffe detachment/unit that had a major impact during the last year of WW2 in europe (May 1944 - May 1945. Kuhlmey's unit, i think was essential in stopping soviet offensive against Finland during the summer of 1944. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detachment_Kuhlmey https://airforcemuseum.fi/app/uploads//2020/05/Kuhlmey-eng.pdf https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=151803 https://www.facebook.com/worldwarincolor/photos/men-of-detachment-kuhlmey-gefechtsverband-kuhlmey-in-front-of-a-junkers-ju-87-st/2656124651183977/

Looking back, what surprises you the most about your journey from a War Thunder gaming channel into what it is now?

Nicholas Mew

Are there any subject matter experts that you follow on social media like Twitter that you would love to interview, if so who?

Nicholas Mew

You've been in the cockpits of numerous countries' aircraft now, which country do you think did a best job in cockpit layout, and is this the case from pre-WWII to modern aircraft or does it change? Thanks!

Congratulations! It's 2022 and you've just been appointed as your country's chief of air force. The defence ministry has ordered you to buy 50 new aircraft but due to budget constraints, you're restricted to aircraft that served during during the Second World War (can be any role and any country of origin). What aircraft are you buying?

Was there any chance for the Austrian Air Force to survive the initial German assault, if Austria had decided to resist in march 1938? And what kind of resistance could the Austrian Air Force hope to achieve against the German forces in 1938? Danke!

So I'm going to use the other questions from the Stuka Q&A: 1.) What were differenced between the "normal" land based variants and the C(?) variant for the Graf Zeppelin in terms of frame(structure) and landing gear to withstand starting and landing on this new environment? 2.) What were the initial steps taken to keep the crew alive during fight and in case of a crash? Did the plane see any changes in terms of survivability for the crew during the course of the war (armor plating, equipment for the crew during flight and if the crashed)? 3.) Did the plane see any "simplifications" in terms of production until the end of the war, what were they and what impact had they?

Reichsbierminister

Since I mentioned it in the Q&A support I guess I should ask it: it is 1945, post WW2 and you are the Air Minister in charge of rebuilding Elbonia's Air Force, but you are secretly a spy, you need to procure an interceptor, an attack craft, a long-range bomber, an air superiority fighter, and a transport craft; you need to procure the worst possible craft possible but not blow your cover, so the craft need to appear on the surface as sensible but in reality be crap., what would you pick; you are allowed to pick craft that are in the design stage in 1945.

Robert Henry Illston

Okay I'm with the other two on the Bolo but can we push it a bit further. How much better was the B-23 Dragon? It never seemed to get any time to do anything other than run cargo. What other bombers was it like?

Wayne Moyer

I like the B18 idea. But for today I have wondered if there was reason for the early JN Zeros being painted grey with black cowlings ? Or is that really just a stereotype ? I realize all nations come up with regulation colors but there is usually some reasoning to the regulations.

Q&A: Bohica_Ice mentioned in a recent stream that the Me 262 used "kerosene" as fuel which the Germans could manufacture synthetically and therefore there was no lack of fuel for the 262. Have neveheard about this, would you agree that there was less of a fuel problem for the 262?

Jens Backman

Q&A: Most underrated German plane in WWII (limited to models actually serving with Luftwaffe units)

Jens Backman

Inspired by the photo: can you talk about the B-18 in it's ASW role against the u-boats? Were they just aerial spotters or would they have attacked with bombs or depth charges? And perhaps this is getting a little out of the way, but do you know how they set the detonation depth for an air dropped depth charge?

Robert Santamaria

Q&A: Something I was thinking watching your excellent Fairey Swordfish video; I assume that WWII-era torpedo bombers were not able to bring a torpedo back to the boat if they did not find a target? If not, was wastage created by this ever a problem?
