2 (3) Videos in Early Access

Hey all,

Here are two, soon to be three, videos in Early Access (Just click on the titles and that will take you straight to the vidoes) as well as a rundown of upcoming content.

Inside the Cockpit - Mirage IIIS - 25. Feb: Inside The Cockpit returns! In this video I will have an in-depth look at the French Mirage III in Swiss service.

50cal vs. 20mm cannons - What is best? - 11. March
: In early access soon (ill update this most likely within 24h - an update will be sent). The discussion what weapon was better for fighter aircraft, .50cal or 20mm cannons is one that keeps being debated, vigorously at times. In this video, I talk about this topic and argue that this comparison makes little sense.

P-47D Thunderbolt - Walkaround - No date
: Taking a closer look at one of my favourite planes from WW2, this video will feature a P-47D found at the RAF Museum.

Upcoming content:

Action of Bougainville - 11 Feb.:
In this video, Justin Pyke and I will discuss the battle and significance of the Action off Bougainville on 20 Feb. 1942 in which Lexington was under attack by G4Ms by 4th Kokutai and escaped unharmed but with the first American ace of the war, Butch O'Hare. Due to my stay in Germany, this one couldn't be recorded sooner, so there might only be a short window to get it into early access next week. If that happens, I will send out an update immediately :)
Why did the Me 262 have Bombs - 18 Feb: What delayed the Me 262 - was it really Hitler's insistence to add bombs, or were other problems more important in pushing back the aircrafts schedule? I will discuss this, and more, in this video coming the 18th February. (See the picture above for a small sneakpeak). I am at about the 50% stage with this one, and it should also be in early access soon. See above for a little sneakpeak :)

Thank you for the support, I hope you enjoy all the videos and please do feel free to leave your comments and feedback!

Chris, Thanks for replying so quickly. The ideal book for me would be a well written narrative history of Dassault that covers the company, how it shaped the French Aerospace industry after WWII, and of course a lot of detail on both the development of and the success of it's aircraft particularly the Mirage. Perhaps I should be reading 2 or 3 books? I'm sure any of your recommendations will be worthwhile.. as long as they are in English! (My French is non existent although I can very slowly make my way through German text). Thanks again!

Hey Mark, yes, I can give you some. Are you interested in operational or developmental history of the aircraft? The Starfighter episode is currently planned for 15 April :)

Chris, I enjoyed viewing both the Mirage and P-47 videos. Two of my favorite planes.. in fact the Mirage III is certainly my favorite jet interceptor, a classic with an impressive history. Your inside the cockpit episode was thorough and informative as always. I know you rely extensively on primary sources, but I was wondering if you might recommend a good book or two on Dassault and Mirage? PS: Have you decided when you'll be doing the episode on the F-104 Starfighter? Cheers, Mark

Hey, that's a very good observation. The RAAF and RAF abdopted a very similar roundel to eliminate the use of red (which could be misidentified as a Japanese roundel/dot). That's the same reason whyt he US also droped the red dot in their star.

Another excellent video!

Thunderbolt, 14:01 "Looking at the rudder" is repeated. Also, the roundel has me confused. I'm not doubting you for a minute Biz, but that two tone variant looks similar to the blue/white roundel adopted by the RAAF. I might have to check out the development of Commonwealth aircraft markings in the Pacific and Asian theatres.

Thanks John!
