Early Access - Heinkel He 162 Walkaround
Added 2020-11-30 22:13:43 +0000 UTC
Hey all,
Here is your early access to an upcoming episode, a walkaround of the Heinkel He 162. The lighting conditions during this shoot were a bit awkward but overall it worked out. I hope you enjoy and remember, you also already have access to another video on Willy Messerschmitt and this very plane.
Thank you again for the support and please let me know what you think!
Chris
Cheers, Bill!

Chris, I love how you've gathered a story around these wonderful visuals. Thank you for being so careful with the history, and speaking up for the difficulties of restoration and preservation.

Good job researching the 162, what I found so interesting was the comparative cost against the man hours and materials it took to produce the ME262. Seeing the recycling of parts from other production types was something I was unaware of and has made me think this was a better aircraft than I had previously thought.
Loved the design, simple hinge pins etc. Reminiscent of later Soviet designs... simple but effective

Chris, I just love those small, discrete lingistically pearls you put in. Sometimes I have to google Urban Dictionary, and then I get annoyed with myself that I didn't caught the meaning by myself immediately :-) 👍

I suggest referring to 1:33 of the video where it gives 9m as the length, not the height of the aircraft.

I enjoyed..I began think about the German use of slave labour vsRosie the riveter and women in allied factories..then of German use of technology yet only delivering 10 seconds of fire from 2 mg...but really you close with a better consideration. How to continue preservation, how to uSe these museums as vehicles for ongoing analysis and learning. Well done Chris

Chris, you say that the aircraft is 6 meters in length, but your graphic has 9 meters in length. After hearing seeing the video on willie Messerschmitt and the 1632, it's nice to get a walk around of the 162. Speaking of Musuems, I would like to recommend the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton Ontario. Most of their collection has been restored to flying condition. Their Lancaster is one of two flying in the world. They have a facebook page, and a small youtube channel.

Is it my imagination, or does this plane lean to port?
