Inside The Cockpit - Dornier Do-31

Here is your early access to the next Inside The Cockpit. This one is on the Dornier Do-31, a very special aircraft. As a prototype VTOL aircraft, it is close to unique.
Sadly, as mentioned in a previous post, the filming of this aircraft did not go as planned. I had to make some heavy adjustments and hope to 'redo' this aircraft when it is possible, sometime in the future. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this one!

Very cool... 2- This may have been the only transport *turbojet* VTOL, but the V-22 has a good argument for also being a transport VTOL. But it is turboprop-driven, and I believe its load capacity is significantly less. 3- Bell has been working on pitching a Civil Tiltrotor concept to a number of places. NASA has done work on terminal-area procedures for a potential CTR; look up published NASA papers by William Decker for details.

2020-11-17 00:47:30 +0000 UTCBrilliant. What if anything was strategic alternative? Or was mission not considered useful? In present time I can see it as heavy lift helicopter? Serve forward bases in Afghanistan. But complex, maintenance...ha ha c;ear;y German!

2020-11-17 00:17:45 +0000 UTCWhat a curious aircraft! It looks like one of the spaceships from the old thirties "Flash Gordon" serials had a love-child with one of Gerry Andersons' creations from "Thunderbirds!", with that nose section and the multiple lift engines in the wings.
