Hi, Bis, I've always wanted to know more about the F-5 variants, as I had a plastic model kit, of an f-5E, I think. It was one of the last kits I ever got, before I became too depressed, bogged down too much with ever-slower-going school work, to build models. That kit may still be in its box, in a bigger box, with other unopened model kits, somewhere in storage. I'm really impressed that the design goes back to the late 1950s. My Dad was in the US Air Force, back then. Of course he didn't fly the F-5, which I guess was roughly on par with the F-100 Super Saber, that he did get to fly. Wow. It's still in use, over 50 years later. That's amazing. Hmm .... I'm thinking now of how "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Long reviled, the M-16 rifle was eventually flattered by the AK-74. Was there ever an imitator of the F-5? I know the UK fielded the Foland Gnat, which I've only seen with the Red Arrows exhibition team.
