of course Germany was in some important sense, “spending other people’s money” early on through conquest, but that was a finite bank. It would be interesting as heck to know who actually made this happen under all the pressure...

I wish I could understand where and how the think tank and the manufacturers survived for so long, survived to send this marvel into the air, in spite of constant allied bombing; or perhaps to ask this Question in the comparative way, was allied bombing so ineffective that it could not knock this process out in mid effort...? How was it possible to convince enough people, or control enough resource to get the 262 into the air, when the naval and army fronts were collapsing with devastating losses ... who had the power to see this through?
