Early Access: Inside the Cockpit - Me 262

Comments

One point I would love to see made some time is how the engines were started. They had a little one-cylinder engine inside the nose cone, and at least some of those engines were started with a pull-cord. Just like my grandpa's old lawnmower was... I don't see the handles on the example here, but there are photos out others of some 262s with ring-shaped pull-handles in the middle of the engine nose-cones.

My parents next door neighbor was a bombardier on a B-17. He had a few up close and personal encounters with Me-262. He said initially that the jets really scared the hell out of them. The jets went so fast that their gun turrets cold not track them. Also, he noted that the German pilots had trouble adapting to the speed as well as they seldom seemed to hit anything.
