Sneakpeak: The Vee-Bombers

Hey all,

Little update from today's work. I went back to the RAF archives for some extra reading in preparation for a video on a very special plane. As you can see from the picture, we are not just branching out to WW1 but also the Cold War. Next to some fighter jets, I am looking to getting this massive bird into my lens very soon - the Avro Vulcan.

Having finished the full script today (external), I hope to have a look inside next week to see what instruments are actually onboard in this museum piece, so I can plan for the interior shots as well. Maybe I can even give you guys a little sneak peak, if the museum consents.

An amusing fact I learned today was that the Vulcan was, at one point, supposed to be named Avenger or Apollo. Avenger fell to the wayside, as it flagged up a naming issue with the relatively well-known American torpedo bomber, and Apollo was scrapped because a 'mythological' name was deemed undesirable. Why Vulcan (God of fire in Ancient Rome) was any better, I can't say. I guess the desire to have a consistent first letter in their strategic bomber force (featuring also the Vickers Valiant and Handley Page Victor) overcame any qualms they had over mythology.

That’s it for now, thank you very much for your support and I hope you also enjoyed today’s episode on the Albatros! <- check it out if you missed it.

P.S. The exclusive wallpaper for the Albatros video will be published tomorrow, one day after the video release as per usual.

Re: Your Albatross commentary. Beautiful is the word. / surprised to see such an early plane in plywood. I thought the first one was the glorious Mosquito. / and ( i guess this is a joke ) i thought the second one was the Spruce Goose.

Ominous photo.
