Here's a little sneakpeak on the upcoming Albatros D. Va video. Shown is me getting in and out of the cockpit for the shoot.
You'll notice two things. First, the museum provided a ladder for this so I couldn't use the spring-loaded step the Albatros has (I show it at the very end in this video). You'll also see that I have no shoes on. This is not unusual and done for conservation purposes to prevent accidental damage.
I realise some viewers might prefer me showing 'how it was done' in real life but it is best to follow the museums directions as these vehicles aren't tanks. Even an accidental knock could leave a dent which would be more than just a shame. Conservation needs might also depends on the aircraft in question. For example, in Finland I was asked not to put any weight on the floor of the I-16 where as they no constraints where given I went into the Fieseler Storch and Draken.
Thus, if you ever see something unusual in such videos (like no shoes, a ladder, gloves, blankets etc.), know that this is due to conservation.
If you have any questions, let me know!
