Hey all,
Another update for all of you regarding the upcoming video.
Visuals (Animations)
All the visuals and animations have been completed. The majority have also undergone the necessary external QA and should be good to go. As I will add audio to them, I anticipate that parts of these will still need to be updated (timing/information etc.) but fundamentally they are all done.
Visuals (Filmed)
After my meeting with the YT production crew, I am trying to take some of their tips and pointers on board. Truth be told, it's not easy and I had to reset and reshoot multiple scenes because the learning curve is quite steep - transitioning from the automatic settings to manual is quite something. To film the 20sec introduction, I needed about 2h. This will rapidly decrease with time as I get comfortable with my equipment and I am happy I made some obvious mistakes early (and noticed them) so as to not continue to make them in the remaining shoots. I am also experimenting with using multiple cameras (well, two...) to allow to shoot from multiple angles (again, two...).
I think this would make the video more engaging and catch the audience everytime attention wains (I actually went to a presentation skill workshop a few months ago where the coach specifically mentioned to use visual cues to reignite the attention of those that 'dose' off - this also makes sense in a video). It also allows people to more clearly follow the structure, as with every scene a new point is brought up. Again, I am experimenting here.
Content
The script is ready. It is based around bulletpoints to allow me to free flow the information which is better than reading off a sheet of paper. I am still tweaking some aspects (what information is superflous...) but I consider it good to go. Very helpful in this regard was a recent book purchase from my wishlist by Patreon Jack which provided some new information on the Swiss Air Force!
Audio
Audio still has to be done, except for the introduction which is finished.
