Sneakpeak: Source pyramid

Hey all,

So, although a few different videos will make it to the channel before this one, I started to work on my next major release. It will be a fair appraisal of the Spitfire and Bf 109 during the Battle of Britain.

I combined all the hard copy sources yesterday, missing only a few of the chronicles I might use to quote some testimonials.

As you can see, it's quite a lot.

Add to this some of the PDFs I have, plus the books on my kindle and  what I got from the British National Archives, and we are looking at one hell of a bibliography.

I have held off from making this video for a long time. A minor reason is that I know it will trigger the fanbois from both sides (but hey, facts don't care about feelings). However, previous videos, specifically on the Spitfire have shown me that a lot of people are misinformed when it comes to these aircraft, so it needs to be made and I hope I can clear up some of the confusion with this video.

Yet the two main reasons are simply the volume of work which was not realistic up to now, and my wish to get more data. My previous video on the A6M2 vs. F4F Wildcat was a monster which, thankfully, was enjoyed by many. It also took me a lot of time to make. However, considering I did a lot of reading on the Bf 109 and Spitfire, this should be about halved. My scripts are also better now, so that's going to help us make more headway. However, some of the stuff I found in the British Archives will really push this video forward, perhaps making it the new standard of the channel (hope I didn't jinx myself here). Indeed, I found stuff that I have yet to see written in a book so...yeah, I am getting giddy all over!

Anyway, that completes this little update. Stay tuned for more!

Yes, indeed. Looking to include him with a quote on first flying a Spitfire.

Military Aviation History

Impressive! I read The Big Show as a teen, it was (and still is) one of my most favorite war books. However, the version I read seemed bigger and contained more details (such as personal comments by Clostermann) than the 1948 one. The one I am talking about is Le Grand Cirque 2000 in French, I don't know if it was translated in English but it is a real plus for the aviation buffs we all are. Besides, if you focus on the sole Battle of Britain, I am quite surprised to see this book in your sources. Clostermann began to fly in the Alsace squadron in 1943 only and mainly fought against Fw-190 from the JG 2 and 26, if I remember well. Do you plan to discuss the evolution of the two aircrafts after the BoB?

Simon Desplanque

Sure, I think I also snapped it up from somewhere ;)

Can you believe, I don't think I've seen your A6M2 vs. F4F Wildcat video in it's entirety. Something to look forward to. I just wanted to add, because of my historic ties to England and my spiritual ties to Germany, I look forward immensely to your new Spitfire vs. Bf 109 video. There will be haters or doubters for sure, but you won't find me in this list.

This is awesome Bis. You have certainly found something in life for which you seem to be almost, if not absolutely perfectly fitted. For this alone, I congratulate you. This is a very difficult thing for very many people, and you seemed to have 'cracked the code'. I think I know how you did it, but that's a discussion for another time. "Facts don't care about feelings", where did you get this piece of solid gold? Can I use it please? This is right in the area of, "never let the truth get in the way of a good story", would you not agree?
