Filming at Finnish Aviation Museum

Hey all,

Right, here's the next major update. Today I returned to the Finnish Aviation Museum. Some of you might know the place from personal visits or from my previous videos: A presentation of some of its unique aircraft and a short stint on the MiG-21.

Today, I filmed about 6 videos worth of footage, four short ones (for example a presentation of the cannon placement in a Bf 109G) and two long episodes featuring the Soviet I-16 and the Swedish SAAB 35 Draken. I got to say, the filming went exceptionally well (Although I am somewhat disappointed with the camera angles I was limited to with the Draken but it's ok) and the museum was very forthcoming, allowing me to get in the cockpit of both. Very thankful to them for this.

Both aircraft are relatively rare, with the I-16 being featured in only about ten museums world wide. However, the version at the museum is unique as it is the only surviving two-seater. The J35 Draken is more prominent but the main displays are limited to the countries it served in (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Austria and the United States [National Test Pilot School]).

In the future I hope to return to the museum to film at least two more long episodes. Also, I've started to have some contact with the Finnish Air Force museum. It is a bit hard to get to but has some fabulous exhibits as well. The hope is there that I can make something happen this Fall.

That rounds us up for this trip, if you have any questions, fire away! Thanks again for your support, the content I produced today is a direct result of all of you. Without it, none of it would be possible!

Also, last chance to get your questions in for the Q&A session!!! Follow this link to the earlier post and place them there.
