What a day!

Hey all!

What a day it has been! We are currently out filming at the Yorkshire Aviation Museum for their 'Against the Odds' event. Long story short, they roll out some of their prime exhibits and have a large gathering of re-enactors.

Yesterday, we did Part 2 of our 'Friday the 13th' Halifax special filming the interior! Some very cramped confines indeed and we had to get very inventive on how to set up some shots. You'll see some of that in a (likely) making-off special.

Then today, we filmed a special on the combat engineers jumping out into Normandy in 1944, how to arm a nuclear bomb, a few random shots here and there, and then two very special videos! First one is on the Mirage IVA. Museum Director Ian Reed talked us through this great machine and explained how France's primary nuclear strike aircraft found its way to the museum.

Then, in the evening, we rounded up some (very motivated) re-enactors, had them put on their kit and talk us through it. After that and what must have been the first time since 1945, the museum allow us to put all of them at the same time into the bomber and we got some footage of each in their positions. Everyone was loving it and yes, they stayed in their for a long time taking it all in (see above).

I can't thank them or the museum enough and look forward to sharing with you all the great time we had over here. The videos will most likely start rolling out in July!

Thanks Bill :)

Oh, and this is a great antidote to the crazy-misleading 1950s sci-fi movies, where stock footage of V-2 takeoffs and high school gymnasium sized interiors gave the impression that Germany didn't kknwo they had the poor man's TARDIS on their hands. ;)

Wow. So glad you were able to be there, and not just because you recorded much for us. It's because you obviously love aviation and history, and this period, and it's just great that you had a good time.

Can't wait. I'm looking forward to seeing your videos. They sound great.

Yeah, it was quite cramped ;)

Wow. This sounds and looks amazing. It's a great idea to film reenactors inside the aircraft - they look cramped despite the Halifax being a large aircraft. Looking forward to the videos.

Bis!!! Have you seen/heard this? It's very appropriate for your current project, I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag6Q5zy7GJE
