Hey all,

Here is my newest video! A lot of effort went into this one. Let's check out the Defiant, sometimes referred to as the worst aircraft/fighter of WW2.

THANK YOU! Excellent ..but you should have mentioned that 264 Sqn had time to train on using this absctract fighter, while 141 sqn had no training. As to the concept of a turretted fighter, imagine what the Bf110 could have done with 2 x 20mm cannons in a large turret ? To Edmund, the Airframe of the Defiant was apparently very good, they could have dropped the turret and maybe added a 1 x 40mm bofor cannon ? with standard rear gunner as loader ?? that would have been a bomber-destroyer ! :D

Excellent video, very comprehensive, very fair and very well-researched. I have been to the Wolverhampton factory where the Defiant was made, and there is one intact example in the RAF Museum, Hendon. It could have had forward-firing guns in the wings, and unturreted it was said to be comparable to a Hurricane in performance. If they had dropped the turret, an extra 600 'Hurricanes' (allowing for the time taken to get the modifications on track) would have been useful.
