Q&A - Questions Roundup #1

Hey mensch1066 - Sorry, never saw this additional question on the cover picture. Yes, it's from a RAF bomber briefing :)

Military Aviation History

Was there any particular advantage between the water cooler designs of the Bf 109 and the Fw 190 D/Ta 152. I only ask as the Dora's and 152 look very much radial engine designs which are noted for being aerodynamically inefficient. Also why couldn't Germany into 4 bladed propellers for their fighters?

Hi, Bismarck I have couple of questions since I am a very curious person 1. I watched your night fighters video and liked it. But I would like to know more about their equipment (antennas). I also though that was also versions of Bf 110 and Ju 88 made for night fighting. 2. How did the Germans organize air defense from the beginning and until the end of WW2 on west and east? 3. How did the Japan organize air defense from the beginning and until the end of WW2? 4. What was the survival rate in the fighter plane? Did bomber crew have more chance? thank you for the time and the answers and hope to see you in the skies really soon. ;)

Also, what's the source of that neat picture? Is it RAF Bomber Command or something else?

It seems as though France was behind Germany and Britain in terms of aviation designs in 1940. Do you think this could have been fixed had France not been steamrolled in 1940? In other words, were there any planes on the drawing board or in prototypes that had real promise when the Armistice came? -Andrew Gianelli

My grandfather carved old WWI and WWII planes. He loved them so much, and had wanted to be a mechanic on them when he was in the US army serving in Korea. It definitely wore off on me and I love them because of him. Who what and where did your passion come from? I know you've probably answered this, but just in case, Im curious. Thank you -TW4T- RussellMcBean
