The Return of Questions Answered

Many years ago, I did a running series of videos where I would answer 3-5 viewer questions per video. I'm bringing it back periodically, so hit me with some questions.

Comments

Any 2011s you would consider appendix carrying every day? Been carrying a g17 + pl350 for a couple years and thinking about pulling the trigger on a staccato p aluminum frame but would like to hear your opinion considering your wealth of 2011 experience

Jorge L Nonell Jr

I must be talented, sigh. Novak's .45 Shop claimed that was what was causing a problem with a gun they did so they milled off the end of the slide stop. At that time, I was still using the old style grip with the support thumb on top of the firing hand thumb, so I was making no contact with the slide stop. About 8 years, an instructor got me to try both thumbs towards the target and that's when the issue started as the support thumb was contacting the slide stop. I need to find time to see if there is a way to mod the grip so it doesn't happen. Thanks.

Rifle dynamics Quickhatch. There’s a video about it on here.

Aaron Cowan

Honestly never had an issue with it.

Aaron Cowan

Hopefully you are still taking these. I noticed in your Operator AOS review you are able to run the gun left-handed with thumbs forward. Is there a technique to keep the support thumb off the end of the slide stop so you don't push it out during recoil making the gun hang up? I know about milling off the end, but hate that as it makes it a PITA to disassemble. Also, you could use some skateboard tape on the front strap or use the pre-cut Talon Grip ones. Either option works pretty well for me. Thanks for what you do. As a retired journalist of the old school, it is refreshing to see someone concerned about conflicts of interests.

I’m just excited for this to come back! No questions right now.

Ben Griffith

I second this, and as a fairly recent convert to USPSA would recommend everyone interested in improving shooting skill do so. It’s been incredibly fun. Been getting fairly far in PCC with my appendix carry Raider 365.

Ben Griffith

I think I've heard you mention for us to test home defense/personal defense rounds ballistics, rather than just going with what others say. How would you recommend about doing that?

Nova

Aaron, I know you do the annual bourbon episode, but do you smoke cigars?

steve e lapin

Probably less of your jam, but how often should we change springs in a sage pistol (g45 specifically) or a sage solgw rifle so it runs optimally? *also let's assume your rifle is suppressed at all times for training.

Marine_ Accountant

Can we get a review of the Gemtech Abyss?

Andraus Soup Campbell

The ramjet is 1000% worth picking up. I have one on my xr920, no issues whatsoever

Andraus Soup Campbell

What's your take on linear suppressors? What one suppressor would you recommend for 9mm, .223, and 300 BLK?

Steve Asvitt

What is the AK on the wall in the new Walther PDP video?

Justice McConnell

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on modifying grip pressure(s) for precision at distance and if it’s changed over the years. One handed, in particular. I’ve had to change mine quite a bit. Interested to hear your thoughts.

James Barron

Will you do a review of the Radian Ramjet Afterburner and/or one of the new Shadow Systems P models? Those are pretty appealing to people living in AWB states.

Mike

Can you go through what you look for in high round count pistols as far as maintenance, replacement parts, expected life cycles, etc.? For example, are you preemptively replacing recoil springs at 10k rounds or any similar kind of schedule?

Chris Joseph

Is there any reason, other than free time, or lack-there-of, that you don't compete in matches?

Chris Webster

Thanks man.

Bradley Jones

Can you do annual updates on the Agency G17? You're the only guy I've seen do a multi-year, high-round review of a Gucci Glock. Ten years ago, Glocks from Salient, Agency, Landers, Fowler, etc. were the hot ticket; now its radio silence. I understand that there's always gonna be new stuff to review, but seeing how a $500 pistol with $2k worth of goodies holds up over the long term.

Mike

Honestly no idea. Pulled from licensed music site I don’t use anymore.

Aaron Cowan

Did the LTT PX4 earlier this year

Aaron Cowan

Any plans to review the LTT PX4HD and CZ Shadow 2 Compact ?

Bill Mott

What are the minimum specs and features you'd look for in a pistol weapon light for duty use? And what would you consider the minimum specs and features you'd look for in a CCW weapon light?

David B

Very specific, but what is the music in the beginning of your video in converting an MOS to an AOS?

Donkey Defense

What grain weight is your preference for carry? 124 or 147?

GB

You can only have one handgun, one subgub/pcc, one rifle, what are they?

Chris Ferdico

Do you have recommended trainers/topics/courses that Sage Dynamics does not offer, but you believe are important for regular everyday people (non-LEO/Military)?

Edward Hull

Any workouts you do to stay in shooting shape?

Wesleytide77

Any plans to check out the LTT HK series?

Jacob Roper

The purpose of a 12.5 ar10 308.

Jimmy House

Can you show and explain your process for zeroing a handgun? I know when you shoot the conformation zero’s it’s bag supported, but what bag? Can you show us? Thanks for all you do.

Bradley Jones

Could you do a follow up on widow size for dots. In older videos it seemed they didn't bother you , but after hearing you make a comment about how the scs most window was a little small for practical use I would like to get an updated opinion on where you are at with that thinking.

Eric Cousino Jr

Do you believe in a minimum or maximum trigger pull weight for duty or carry pistols?

patrick russell

I pulling the trigger on a carbine different than on a handgun?

steve e lapin

What is your perspective on where firearms are heading regarding new technology or features in rifles/pistols?

Cody Dean

What are you thoughts on the state of law enforcement today? (United States) I thought I’d ask since I’ve seen you periodically mention your law enforcement background in some past videos. I personally began as a Cadet in 2019 just a few short months before the pandemic really hit the country by the storm and then all the major controversy that also took place around that time. (You can probably guess what I’m referring to) in just a few months of employment I was able to see an incredible shift in the way the job was performed and how police were perceived by the average citizen. I won’t get into all the details but I’d imagine it to be similar to the same things some of the older guards experienced throughout their careers too. I worked for a “small” Big city with at the time around 500 sworn. I left after two years for personal reasons but was also left a bit jaded just by the state of things and the department administration and support structure. Fast forward about three years and I am looking to get back in the saddle but into a smaller, more community oriented department. admittedly have had some health & fitness issues after several surgeries I had after leaving in 2019. However I can’t help but feel a bit of a range of emotions jumping through the hoops. I remember conversations with some of the older guards more than experienced than I and their qualms about how the job is not what it used to be and transfer to divisions and wait out their years. Officers seem to assume a lot more personal liability or even financial liability in the last couple of years and I think it’s a common theme around the country that officers don’t feel very supported by their department, command or city administration. The risk/reward balance is out of whack. Dare I ask, is the juice worth the squeeze? I’m not talking about money per say. I’m a young man who seeks personal fulfillment in the work I do and even though I was left a bit jaded after two short years of work, I cannot deny that at least I felt I served a good purpose in some people’s daily lives. Now for the last three years I have worked an office job in where I can honestly say I have no satisfaction, fulfillment or otherwise any feeling of making a positive impact for someone and it takes its toll. I’d like to get back into doing something that I feel would restore that sense of purpose or at the very least, something that I could derive some personal satisfaction out of but the current state of law enforcement has me questioning if that is truly even an option for me anymore. Part of me feels like the time for that ended, perhaps before I even initially started in 2019. Anyways, sorry for the essay. Didn’t mean for that message to run as long as it did but somehow I kept finding words to add. Understand if this is not one you pick to answer, just thought I’d throw my hat in. Have a good day.

What Patreons do you subscribe to? What learning material do you find is worth paying for?

Spencer Cartwright

How can we convince you to post a pic of you riding the new horsey?

What is good threshold for capacity for a duty use handgun

Tyler bartow

Do you think suppressor companies have any incentive to make cans legal to own with no restrictions? They could potentially sell more, depending on the competition, but they would also have to lower their price points to stay competitive.

Jun Cho

Do you think we’ll ever get a large enclosed emitter optic soon? Like a 509T XL

Varia Vante
