October 2022 ~

How y'doin' dear patrons? October has been reached, and so the final Patron doodles have been doodled. It was a nice run! Active for 52 weeks, resulting in a little bit over 60 doodles in total ~ The experience has helped me improve a lot, so I must thank everyone who tagged along for this little journey!

After all is said and done, I feel great!!

So anyways, what went on in September?

Programming:

- Made an isolated routine to load levels from file. That was a daunting one, so I'm glad to have done it!

What's next for programming?:

- Backgrounds
- Cameras
- Work a bit more on collisions

Art!

I doodled a tiny bit :3

First, here's this new OC. Her name is Fjor -- she is a living bubble girl. She has very high intelligence and dexterity. She absolutely adores sciences and art, although she doesn't have the creativity to be an artist herself beyond DIY crafts. She also likes programming and playing video games.

Then there's this drawing of Reese, I had on the backburner since August. Doesn't she look absolutely comfy on that big red balloon?

Then there's Arc Flotelle. She's a rather important character to Riley's story.

A leafling born within the confines of the Arcensile Yard. Her  power resonates with the forest's magical dewdrops, able to form them  into weightless, perfectly spherical bubbles. She is over a hundred  years old -- her longevity reflective of the trees of the forest.

Arc  is impetuous, condescending, lazy, disinterested and a little selfish.  Her only desire was to float through life, only using her archery skills  against those who would threaten the peace of the forest. She will  sometimes prank people by letting bubbles steal away at their  belongings, but she adamantly refused to let humans float inside her  bubbles -- citing that it's a huge bother when they come back to ask for  more. She might let animals float inside her bubbles on the other hand,  and even enjoy how it makes humans jealous.

This  is what motivated and inspired a young Riley to learn to make her own  bubble magic. In fact, Riley's passion lead her to discover many things  about bubbles that Arc had no idea was possible. This made Arc jealous  enough to challenge Riley to a zero-gravity archer duel -- where the  winning condition was to burst the other's bubble. While Arc's bubble is  swift through the air, Riley's seemed to bend at will to avoid incoming  arrows. In the end, Riley won, and Arc was impressed. She eventually  decides to travel with Riley's performer troupe, having found something  new to protect. In doing so, she leaves the Arcensile Yard for the first  time of her life.

Despite being much  older, she acts like a little sister to Riley. Her lack of wisdom about  the outside world is very apparent, but she adapts, even learning to  like humans.

Fun fact:

- Arc is the french word for "bow". It fits not only her skills with a bow, but also the rainbow tinge of the magical dewdrops.

- Flotelle is similar to "float", which fits with both her power and her desire to float through life.

-  Her cape is a gift from another human, long ago. It's the only thing  made with materials from outside the forest. Despite its heft, it is  very fluffy and weighs almost nothing. She wraps herself in it to use a  blanket.
