This isn't a teaser - 18 January 2025

Hi, everyone!

I am back. I should begin by wish you a Happy New Year 2025...because mine seriously didn't begin well.

Indeed, by a viciousness that one couldn't have believed the fiend capable of, Tzeentch himself has decided to sabotage the heating of my home...in addition to other things, which might include a car, and a few other things.

I presume that the abomination bearing the number nine thought that if everything is frozen with the fury of a Valhallan winter, my motivation to slay daemons and other vile aetheric entities would falter.

On this, like in many things, the so-called 'Chaos God' was wrong, though I must concede my writing pace has decreased as a consequence. My computer is unaffected, but the flesh is weak, the Mechanicus was right about one thing, alas...

Why do we try to utter Happy New Year anyway? Sigh. Between the website ff.net suffering massive bugs and plenty of other personal cases, I have a feeling there are a lot of Chaos cultists on this planet preparing something unpleasant.

Anyway.

I'm going to try my best to continue the writing of this new chapter as fast as my (not yet completely frozen) fingers allow. The plan remains to have it complete by the end of the month. Here is a small not-teaser to keep you satisfied.

Bests,

I did say crazy idea… and do not actually believe it. But sometime wilds ideas are fun to throw out

Jeremy

Unfortunately, the Blood Ravens are nowhere nearby at the moment.

Antony444

That's...an interesting speculation, I must admit. I didn't see that one coming.

Antony444

Sometimes, dear reader, one does not prevent the other...

Antony444

True, true. The Muses can be infernal when they feel their job is at risk...

Antony444

Even when I try to be unpredictable, it is as if the readers are behind my back, reading my large pile of notes...(evil grin)

Antony444

You can safely bet on it, yes.

Antony444

I can confirm it is not.

Antony444

On the other hand, we don't know that this is the start of the chapter.

Either they are Marines Malevolent under Vandires payroll, or they are scouts for the new Minotaurs "chapter" to introduce to the "loyal" Marines under Vandire

Vortiboy27

So while I do agree the most likely reason for the Marines Malevolent involves the Vandire plot, but I am going to still throw out a crazy idea. So the Marines Malevolent have an unknown Gene Heritage, and the Imperium in actual Lore is not above messing with Gene-seed or possibly using Traitor stock in Foundings (see Cursed Founding). The crazy theory - the Marines Malevolent are victim of this experimentation, potentially of Night Lord or more likely World Eater gene seed. The Strike Cruiser is following them to help a 'surprise' encounter to allow for negotiations between their Command and Rogue Trader Peters for some kind of aid or possibly protection. Since the Night Lords are about to pick up Camatoz or the loss of Angron is messing with them. The secrecy is so that the secret of their Gene Seed heritage is not spread, and just getting declared as a Traitor Chapter

Jeremy

... Did the Salamanders bring a librarian with them in this squad? This is starting to sound like a perfect time to put out a call, to the blood ravens, and of course, make sure the bad rines hear it. But yes this is starting to look like a void battle going to start up. Which Dennis is going to be on a ship that might need a time stop in the battle a few times, he also has a crew trained for it too by now.

Forgottenone

Think this is the first chapter aside from maybe the prologue that didn’t start with a historical snippet or someone taunting somebody else. Not saying it’s bad but it feels a bit odd. Onto the meat of the teaser, I don’t think the Marines Malevolent would attack Clockblocker without Inquisitor backing, a large part of the reason they survived several millennia is that for all their actions are abhorrent and their conduct asshole-ish they never do things beyond their permit. This doesn’t of course prevent them from being Bile’s patsies considering the inquisitor in Vander’s “let’s fuck with a Living Saint” party.

Silver Wolf

I'm guessing these Bad Marines made some kind of deal with the Vandire Conspiracy.

Gabriel Meadow

I have a feeling this not teaser is not a the start of the chapter, but smewhere in the middle... Either way, Dennis is apparently hunted. Well he will have an ultimate defence should enemy try to ran and board him - stop his whole ship in time.

The Power of Chaos is nothing Before The Power of the Muses
