Teaser Endgame - 10 November 2024

Okay, as was foretold, here we go for the second teaser.

The redaction of the chapter has advanced well enough (at close to 30,000 words) to justify revealing the entirety (or close enough) of the Sixth Labour, which is...err...already 11,000 words or so long.

Sigh.

I have a feeling this chapter is going to beat the 'average' 40K chapters of TWO. But it's just a feeling.

What could go wrong (sarcasm)?

Anyway, let's continue the dire end of the game.

As I told in a review seconds ago, Commodus did not go begging for reinforcements and more ressources to make the Labours of Neo Hercules easier. Quite the contrary, in fact.

So yes, things are going to get worse, I'm afraid.

And then Bianca di Angelo is going to make sure plenty of people definitely regret their past choices before she will send them one-way to the Fields of Punishment.

This is the Endgame, and I'm afraid no prisoners will be taken.

Good reading!

Comments

there was a pretty good chance perseus would send her, considering she's one of the only archers he had who wasn't vulnerable to lionification

james

It was possible to win, but the best way to do so was to never use Iphigenia in this Labour. And unfortunately, Perseus is good, but he's not all-knowing.

Antony444

Pretty much, yes.

Antony444

A fourth Fury dedicated to the punishment of Commodus is a very amusing idea, I am not going to lie...

Antony444

40K (looks at the word count in a worried manner). Oh, dear...

Antony444

It's coming!

Antony444

Medea is not exactly 'lost' right now. Transformed, yes. Vulnerable, yes. But she isn't gone.

Antony444

The transformations are not permanent (Michael's hare one included) but they are not that easy to cancel, either.

Antony444

Yeah, she didn't earn her title as Empress by delivering flowery speeches.

Antony444

Some people (read: the majority of the world) prefer Bianca without them, thank you very much.

Antony444

Thanks a lot!

Antony444

Yep. Commodus has had his chance. Now it's going to be a merciless punishment.

Antony444

presumably the book would only activate if iphegenia is among those in the arena

james

Blinks wait I thought the rules stated that it was possible to win...you had to deploy casters and archers in this battle. So by that same token having two super traps that kill them you just made it nearly impossible. Now one would argue you had to work with the other team to win the lake trial...but I disagree. They are foes set by the rules. Playing fast with rules will incur the wrath of parties no one sane wants the attention of. "I will remember" I feel was directed at the hosts of this blood bath. Making Medea a monster wow someone wants the divine casters to come after them.

Forgottenone

...Man, Mark Anthony is going to be eating crow about how many people told him to drop this idea...with every task proving how bad idea it actually was. Medea being turned into a Centuar 'queen'...oh god, somebody is in deep, deep trouble from this, particularly when Commodus told them to rape her... Well, Percy is going to have no mercy when it finally comes time to make Commodus regret his every life choice...

Bel

Imagine her with demons.

Navdeep Sugandhi

Im so excited, caught up with the weaver option love your storytelling

Gavin Franzon

It's good to see "May She Never Return" getting to show off why she earned that.

ElricFlairgold

So.... I know his original plan involves killing the Gods most directly angry at him, being Hercules, Ares, and Artemis. But I do second the opinion that he is really overestimating either power boost or the support he will be getting from his 'allies' later. Just this teaser Medea will be heavily invested in his death, since I am assuming her new form has a good bit of divinity behind it, as well as Circe, the new goddess Pasiphae, and the titaness of Magic Hecate. Also not sure if Iphengia wants him dead the Abyss is going to anything to dissuade her. Though I will note I am assume the penalty for failing his ritual will probably be truly horrifying and like mean no afterlife for him. So failure might be his best bet short unimageable pain vs long drawn out suffering in the Underworld as Hades makes profit off people paying to punish him... might even need a fourth Fury who sole job is punish Commodus

Jeremy

They lost medea and isis. Seriously they fucked up.

Navdeep Sugandhi

Well written ! Four things to says after this teaser : 1) However Commodus is going to die, it is not going to be horrible enough for his crimes 2) How the heck does Commodus think he is going to stay alive after that game ?(is the last transformation permanent ? Because curses generally imply you can have a counter-curse) 3) Triumphant is the most terrifying demigod after Perseus 4) I really really really want Commodus and Prometheus to die

El

Man I bet that triumvirate is going to kill the guy who wanted this. I forgot his name.

Another crumb to feed the starving masses, please sir. Feed us more.

I hope the Muses bless you to beat the Average 40k chapter length
