Blasphemer

Something about these comics being in a comic store demands me to make backgrounds for each panel. It's like I owe it to the environment. :P

You just didn't realize that such a priceless treasure has been altered. Thus your mind has been clouded to the reality of Erf, young padawan.

Mr. Blue

Usually the male nerds are too busy in a gaming situation to be distracted by the female that ventures into their midst. Usually, the females that do enter the realm of these male nerds already have some sort of attachment and a novel at the ready. And these females do know how to use their books rather smartly in more than one way.

Mr. Blue

I don't see why it would get reported at all. Just saying, in all my time I've never seen it happen. :p

BrandX

It happens, it just doesn't get reported as often as husband beating will be reported.

Mr. Blue

Hmm, I don't know, but I've always thought that Tetch should be a small man. Very squirrelly, and not at all imposing. His mind should be what makes him formidable. Asner had always seemed like he was the kinda guy who would spank his neighbor's kids, so I don't think he'd fit the bill.

Nicholas Stephenson

Oh yeah. He does a superb job of being insane. Who would have thought?

Mr. Blue

I wonder how Ed Asner would fare as Jervis Tetch.

First see "The Tagalong" ( https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=1520528 ) for the reminder of her asking and getting told no, recall there are two more comics of Herb having no actual ideas, then see "v2.0" ( https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=1640756 ) and pay special attention to the last sentence in the author post.

There's just something about the right kind of insane villain that really speaks to me somehow. I'm usually a bit pickier, but for some reason The Joker gets a pass. Maybe just happened to see a lot with him during a specific developmental stage to put him there. As a side note, it also makes me happy that the man I'd recognize primarily as Luke Skywalker does such a fantastic job voicing The Joker.

That One Guy

I have often heard of this happening in webcomics, but have never actually seen this happen at any comic store. :p

BrandX

Harley Quinn IS overrated. Doesn't change the fact that she's still awesome.

I have seen that response, have you seen my response to that response that you made in response to my response?

Mr. Blue

Someone somewhere updated some of the fiction between Wayne and Frieze, as Fries was an employee of Wayne Enterprises working with cryogenic processes. There was a storyline where Fries came fell in love with a patient, Nora, while working fervently to find a cure for her illness imagining and believe that she was his wife. I think that Williams could have pulled that off rather well. I would also have put Max Von Sydow, Martin Short, Rick Moranis and Vincent Price as well on the short list.

Mr. Blue

Hrm... serious Robin Williams as Mr. Freeze... yeah, I could see that. Robin Williams has always had this heart and soul in his performances that is instantly recognizable- you can definitely tell that he cares about the roll he plays, so to see him as such a tormented soul, trying and failing to save his wife's life would've been intriguing to say the least.

Nicholas Stephenson

I'm going to say that it not only depends on the artist's portrayal of Harley in the books via art and writing, but also through the voice actor's methods. Arleen Sorkin nailed it in more ways that one in making Harley very likeable. But doesn't the current interpretation of her character depend on the liking of the "New 52?"

Mr. Blue

He's the scientific mind gone insane because of something. At least some of the veil behind his story has been removed. I agree with your assessment of Mr. Frieze, and that Arnold was one of the worst castings that could ever have been made for him. I think of Jeff Daniels in that one Clint Eastwood movie, or Martin Short in Law and Order. While I know that Robin Williams was quite well in "One Hour Photo," I'm wondering how he would have fared as playing Mr. Freeze as the comedic straight man with a dead pan face and voice.

Mr. Blue

Could I just sit next to them while just reading comic books, hoping to breathe at least one or two oxygen molecules?

Mr. Blue

Is my sight going bad, or does pumpkin have a nose piercing now?

Nicholas Stephenson

The Joker is cool and all, but I kind of feel like he's an overplayed villain. I prefer a nice rotation to the villains, which is why I think the Mad Hatter should have some more screen time. As for favorites, I'd say I prefer Mr. Freeze a lot. Not his initial iteration, but the Animated series iteration. He was pretty cool in Batman Beyond too. I like him because he's the kind of guy that really can't be described in a couple of words, like the Joker can. In the animated series, he became a more complex individual, and I like that in him.

Nicholas Stephenson

I think you're right on the money there.

Nicholas Stephenson

She's currently suffering from Deadpool Syndrome, in which a character who might be interesting in small doses is being spread thin across the market to cash in while the interest is there. But aside from that...she's a pretty terrible character now (but wasn't always). And I'll happily debate anybody who says otherwise.

Erik Bell

See my above response.

Are you correct Sir?

Mr. Blue

Mr. Blue

I'm not sure if I could pick a favorite out of the first tier line up of Batman villains. I mean, for the most part, they all have their own qualitative pros and cons. In terms of dynamics, back story, presentation of character and vileness. I think that Joker, Two-Face are the top two in the men's division, with Harley and Selina in the top three and Ra's daughter in the top five. Other than that, I just don't know.

Mr. Blue

I'm sure that Danny, Caleb and Vu will all be partaking of the benefits of socialized medicine. However, if the California Mountain Snake visits is an entirely other matter.

Mr. Blue

Pumpkin is loving it. Any more and she's be the face of the newest happy meal. ba ba da ba da. And Quinn, she's loving it as well. Getting to be snarky, female, nerdish, and in control without having to be angry. So she's got to be enjoying this with a bit of mustard and relish.

Mr. Blue

Personally, my favorite villain is The Joker (definitely Batman, almost certainly DC-wide, probably even for all comic universes). He definitely falls prey to being included by too many people also, some of them very poorly done too. However, with the random reboots and rewrites in comics, I just kinda' ignore the bad ones and consider the character to be an amalgamation of the good ones. I just figure any character that gains enough attention for significant development is unlikely to be able to avoid all poor writing on the way. Selective reasoning, yes. But it's fiction and for enjoyment, so I don't worry about it.

That One Guy

See the author post in v2.0 ( https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=1640756 ). Rusche states very emphatically that this is pre-camera placement and estimates that there's about three weeks until then (v2.0 was comic time yesterday to this strip as per Quinn's Way too Obvious - https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=1749990 ).

That One Guy

Right. We will see Ellie at some point in this comic, and she'll be commenting on doing the convention job still. There are starts and stops in the Patreon comic, so you'll know when we'e caught up with the original comic.

Not very stealthy..

Poor guys, just take a deep breath and talk to one of em already. At the very least it looks like they need the practice.

Dragonus45

"Harley Quinn is incredibly overrated." For that one line alone, this strip deserves a slow clap. I feel similarly. She's an interesting character, but when too many people try to include her, her character gets a bit more stale each time. You know what villain needs a bit more love? The Mad Hatter! Don't see a lot of him very often.

Nicholas Stephenson

I should elaborate I am basing my assessment on where Chris is inserting the Patreon strips into the archive.

I believe that is correct.

Loving these. Time-wise, where do they fit in? While Ellie's still doing con stuff with Danny?

Stefan Marmion

I've been doing it wrong all this time....

The Lurker

I like how they are all holding their comics upside down.
