Imperial Circus - unbetaed - Ch30 of An Impractical Guide to Godhood
Added 2024-09-12 10:44:14 +0000 UTCAnd here is the circus, as it was promised some hours ago.
Remember, intrepid adventurers!
If the King of Pirates (often known better as Perseus Jackson) proposes you his eternal friendship, accept!
It far less dolorous and humiliating than the alternatives!
But above all, don't give him a reason to bring down the hammer on you.
You aren't going to like it. Like, at all.
And there will be horrible betrayals.
You have been warned. Several times.
Now, once again, everything your beloved Tyrant has done or will do is not to be replicated under any circumstances.
Praise the madness, and pass the ammunition!

2024-09-18 18:23:10 +0000 UTCThanks a lot of the compliment!

2024-09-18 07:22:50 +0000 UTCTwo reasons: one, he was a bit busy with somewhere else, and two, it was more of a rant than an accusation; Commodus didn't exactly pursue it officially; he was just completely breaking up in fury.
Antony444
2024-09-18 07:22:38 +0000 UTCSo question why didn't Percy call him out on that accusation of cheating again at the end of the fifth challenge?

2024-09-14 16:01:53 +0000 UTCGod I love this story. I was genuinely cackling during the fourth labour. The chaos Percy causes is just such a delight. I can't wait to see how this concludes!

2024-09-14 08:33:49 +0000 UTCThat was a lot of fun! Man, Commodus is just the worst, can't wait for Percy and other interested parties to make him realise why you don't push this far. Interesting to see the Sire of Drakkons and his contemporaries, including Prometheus. Will be interesting to see how endgame plays out, but I do hope we get some more about Percy's deal with Venus/Aphrodite to save Piper. I predict that Commodus will react to any actions in that direction in a calm and diplomatic....no, who am I kidding? He's going to throw a tantrum. I'm really looking forward to 'Endgame' and what comes after as Percy teaches a lot more people why you don't annoy the sea spawn. Good job!

2024-09-13 19:47:27 +0000 UTCbrilliant chapter as always, every time I’ve seen a notification that this story has been updated, I get a dopamine spike like no other.

2024-09-13 08:39:51 +0000 UTCbut with the games over, wouldn't the gods be able to act and kill him?

2024-09-13 06:15:49 +0000 UTCThanks! I will do my best to provide an epic showdown for Endgame...
Antony444
2024-09-13 06:15:41 +0000 UTCNot completely. It hasn't been shown in-live, but Nocturna had to work hard to ensure her body and her soul didn't disintegrate with the final ritual. But yes, there's a small bit of hypocrisy added to it...
Antony444
2024-09-13 06:15:21 +0000 UTCHa! I will try. Though I have to give some love to The odds were never in my favour and TWO before. Still, I'm sure I will be able to update (at least) one more chapter before the end of the year...
Antony444
2024-09-13 06:14:14 +0000 UTCIndeed. Beating the Triumvirate, while not an insignificant point, is very much a secondary priority, because you can be sure that after what happened, Commodus doesn't intend to leave anybody of the two Teams leave the island alive...
Antony444
2024-09-13 06:13:22 +0000 UTCSuper excellent. Can't wait to see Commodus get trashed
Smitty
2024-09-13 04:23:54 +0000 UTCbut you can just give up those remaining four matches. so you go in for the first 3 rounds and win and that's it, game over. He can't make it so that you can't concede, I think

2024-09-13 02:39:24 +0000 UTCGlorious, this chapter is yet another glorious part of this mad story. We cannot wait for the next chapter.
Ravenext
2024-09-13 02:24:27 +0000 UTCBecause there's a higher level conflict going on here: Commodus is trying kill most of them, and violate the rest in _every_ conceivable way. Winning means nothing if you are dead, or worse. And worse, you _must_ prevent the completion of the ritual and Commodus' apotheosis, because he'll kill everyone then. It's do or die time for everyone.
John Smith
2024-09-13 02:17:07 +0000 UTCNocturna: "she hated Commodus because he hadn’t earned his power. There was no struggle. There was no sweating, no attempt to become stronger and claim greater skills for himself." Also Nocturna: Was given almost all her power by the Sire of Drakons. I see Commodus is not the only hypocrite present.

2024-09-12 22:06:02 +0000 UTCI confused about something: they have 3.5 points and there are 7 more rounds, so why are they focused on anything other than simply winning 3 more rounds. The score would be 6.5 to a maximum of 4.5 for the other team. Thats a win, right?

2024-09-12 20:35:05 +0000 UTCi need the final part of this arc. please update more on this story.

2024-09-12 16:38:21 +0000 UTCWhat a glorious madness, Antony eagerly waiting for u write your other stories fast and get back to writing practical guide. It is your best story imo

2024-09-12 15:37:11 +0000 UTCHmm...interesting. That said (and I should have made it clearer in-chapter) the problem is not so much to find a 'relative' of Cerberus, the problem is to get to Hell and come back alive. While Perseus did it three times, other very mortal characters don't do it...and the Hellhounds of the Underworld in general aren't playing nice.
Antony444
2024-09-12 13:23:50 +0000 UTCThank you, disciple of mayhem!
Antony444
2024-09-12 13:21:54 +0000 UTCNah, it counted far more as a rant against everything and everyone. And Perseus was nowhere near him to try to claim the 'victory'. Otherwise...well, Commodus would have been forced to apologise. Again.
Antony444
2024-09-12 13:21:41 +0000 UTCSo Commudus accused Jackson of cheating a second time, and didn't apologize. Is that 3 free victories?

2024-09-12 13:07:26 +0000 UTCCan’t wait for the next chapter. True madness shall prevail

2024-09-12 13:04:58 +0000 UTCMight knowledge of Greek Mythology might be off... but to the Cerberus Trial, I believe Cerberus had a brother, Orthus. I believe Orthus is even killed by Heracles... so maybe he will be used as basis / component of the Cerberus Trial. Just saying since Hades' seemed to believe that there were no children from Cerberus lying around.
