The Foodchain

Anise's hypothetical reaction is obviously the most understanding and reasonable inquiry. I mean, isn't that really the ultimate question? To life, to existence.. why we're all here.

...does anyone have a link to the full resolution? I can't read this, and it makes me sad.

I suppose that what the curious thing is that Pumpkin was in on teasing Ellie about her relationship with Quinn, along with the other sisters. Perhaps also teasing Cinnamon about her understanding of that as well. But then, Pumpkin wasn't thinking about the sisterhood food chain at the time, as nothing has been brought to the surface in regards to herself. But on the other hand, Pumpkin more than likely knew of the truth in regards to Ellie and Quinn. Perhaps in that jest, Pumpkin feared whatever truth that might lie underneath the surface.

Mr. Blue

Anise? I've just got to ask if you mean Juniper?

Mr. Blue

I would bet her sisters would end up surprising her, by not caring about it, with at least one of them saying "Been there." :p

Unlike real people...

Definitely can relate to that. And Quinn as a sounding board (at the very least) really makes sense under these circumstances. Though she probably could (and will) be talking to Ashlyyy at some point, seeing as that particular ship might have sailed already anyway, if we remember her text message.

Every teen I've known has had a fear of being judged and treated "different". Whether it was physical (too thin, too fat, too tall), or a member of the "wrong" group, so Pumpkins response seems normal to me. I think once she talks this out with Quinn, even if it is only by using her as a sounding board, she'll be able to see how the sister council can help her get through this.

The Lurker

I bet Anise has the sanest reaction to things like this all the time. Just like Ellie being depressed about losing her job.

That One Guy

Well, Pumpkin may be certain of her sexuality or she may not be. She may be in a "curious" phase and so isn't really able to say one way or the other. Her worry about them looking at her differently is either immaturity (if she's certain she's a lesbian, they WILL find out eventually) or her not wanting them to get the idea in her head when she doesn't really know herself yet. Although it might also be certainty that she's bi and she intends to settle down with a guy so she can have kids and is just planning to make sure he's open to MFF threeways or watching her with another girl, so she's intending on her sisters to consider her to be straight. Also, the fact that Rusche skipped the big monologue here and the phrasing isn't quite definitive makes me not yet certain that Pumpkin has decided that she has any attraction to girls. It absolutely looks like that, but the dialog is still in the area where he could be pulling a fake.

That One Guy

My thoughts? This is not an admission of/for/or against Pumpkin's sexuality. However, it does seem to scream, "My pants, my business" or "Keep the U.S. out of my uterUS." Also, that Pumpkin doesn't seem to have found a use for relationships along the lines of sex or sexual activities. Where friendship means friendship and nothing else. Platonic above all else. What she doesn't want, no matter what her sexual identity is, is to be treated just the same. No matter what. I do not see this, as I said before, an admission of or a denial of any choice made by Pumpkin being put forth before the family, or the audience at large. What I do seem to see is that Pumpkin might have a problem with mind reading. And what I mean by that is that she is somewhat afraid of what some other people might be thinking without actually talking to said person. I believe that the proper psychological term is "transference."

Mr. Blue

Cute sketchy sisters are cute. And Pumpkin could easily avoid the chain just by coming out of the closet all at once and get the awkwardness over and done with. It'll probably blow over pretty fast with just a bit of mandatory teasing. She should just ignore whatever Cinnamon says, though. It will always be stupid.

Plushies never judge.

Sometimes it's easiest to talk to someone who has no connection at all to the situation. I've been there a couple times myself.

Ahh yes, #bigfamilyproblems. Haha Anyways I know It's not really that weird, but I do find it a little odd that she went to Quinn with all this. I didn't think they were that close, but maybe that is part of pumpkins reasoning for going to her. Ah well.
