The odds 120 unbetaed
Added 2024-07-24 07:56:37 +0000 UTCAnd here we go for the unbetaed chapter 120 of The odds were never in my favour.
It is titled Knight Necromancer. Ironically, choosing the title was one of the most difficult parts of the writing process, the rest flowed rather easily after that...
Ah, well. At least I was able to complete it and send it to the beta before the Olympic Games began. Mission accomplished, as they say...
Enjoy!

Now that would be incredibly cruel. And yeah, I know in canon that the points of the first two Tasks only gave you a minor time advantage during the Third Task. At that point, one might truly wonders what was the point of organising the previous Tasks in the first place...so no, the points have their importance. However, there are big rewards for each Task, so even Champions who aren't able to win the Tournament anymore have the hope to win the last Task...

2024-07-26 09:07:53 +0000 UTCThanks for the chapter. Great job! I didn't quite understand what the Knight Necromancer said her goal was. Did she really say she intended to hold the power over the Light that the Archmage used to hold AND the power over the Dark that the King used to hold AND become the Champion of Fate?

2024-07-24 23:24:39 +0000 UTCSilversight111, my prediction for a while has been that Chaos will go for dreams. Corruption will be the power of the dark. Death will be the power of lightening. I don't think strife/war being the power of metal makes much sense and changing war to strife seems like it should be very hard so I'm guessing that won't actually happen.

2024-07-24 23:22:29 +0000 UTCHonestly the doubling of the points for the seventh round just seems unfair, cause the only person to be truly screwed over with this addition is Alex. She's at 390 and Eleonora is at 326, so even if Riva gets 100 points she would be at 426 meaning Alex with a mere 37 points would win. To be truly sadistic, I feel the judges should have taken a page from the Tri-Wizard Tournament and made it so that all the points from the previous rounds are essentially meaningless, so that whoever wins the 7th round wins the Tournament and that the points were really only for the school ranking and choosing the winners of each round. In canon, the more points you had the bigger head start you got, so many every 100 points could have been an addition focus or something.

2024-07-24 21:30:55 +0000 UTCWell, one must admit, Albus has good reasons to be rattled... One does not become a Champion just like that, but yeah, if there was a Power of Spite, one must acknowledge Alberforth Dumbledore would have excellent chances to be recommanded... As for the Knight Necromancer, unfortunately, her plan (or at least the first stages of it until she becomes Champion of Fate) has some sound foundations. But she's also facing a very dangerous opposition...

2024-07-24 18:55:05 +0000 UTCYep. Of course, one could rightly argue that if Alexandra got a good score on this one, the other Champions would have been screwed either way, no matter the motivation of Alexandra, since they couldn't have caught up with Alexandra even with perfect scores...

2024-07-24 18:52:38 +0000 UTCI think there may be too much blood to hold in a bath...but who am I to discourage my readers to assert their rightful opinions? (evil grin)

2024-07-24 18:50:59 +0000 UTCThanks a lot! And yeah, I'm told to live in Paris is hardly calm or peaceful these days...oh well. A good thing I don't live anywhere near Paris.

2024-07-24 18:50:15 +0000 UTCThank you for the great chapter, Antony! Man, Dumbles really was rattled by that revelation, huh? Is there any chance Aberforth could become a champion out of sheer spite for both of his siblings bullshit? That being said, I'm curious to see what Knight Necromancer's plan is and if there's any real meat behind it or if she just went mad somewhere along the road.

2024-07-24 12:57:16 +0000 UTCWell, not even Alexandra can win them all. I think her opponents made a mistake, however; now, Alexandra will be *motivated.* Thanks for the new chapter.

2024-07-24 12:17:35 +0000 UTCNot a bath. Mayhap a light dusting or a sprinkle of blood. An all out bloodbath would upset the new world order or give them a baptism of fire they are going to need! Any takers on which powers will go for which planes?

2024-07-24 10:04:40 +0000 UTCReally nice chapter and a perfect way to kick off the Olympics season (I have never been so happy before to not be a Parisien) ! The next Task promise to be a bloodbath (R-Rated of course), though.
