I imagine this is shortly after Ash inadvertently assimilates Launna, being the first instance of whatever power she's obtained to do this.
Ash has always loved Launna's hair, but Launna obviously found it pretty annoying having Ash pawing at it like a cat, often chiding the girl whenever she'd try. So Ash jumps at the opportunity now that Launna is a part of her.
