SPOILERS! If you haven’t read Chapter 6 yet, you should do so before reading further.
Chris chose to travel to Albuquerque with Lily and Chooli, the Navajo girls he met at the gas station. As the trio drove across the desert, they became better acquainted with each other, laying the foundation for a potential friendship.
Yet something terrible happened at a rest stop along the highway. A strange couple that they first encountered at a diner earlier that evening has apparently kidnapped Chooli! Who are they? What do they intend to do with poor Chooli?
Clearly, Chris and Lily will have to do something to save her. There is a phone booth nearby, so they could call the police. Of course, the couple’s car is getting farther away with each passing second. By the time the police respond, the kidnappers may be long gone,
Of course, Chris still has a Colt .45 pistol in his backpack. They could jump in Lily’s car and pursue the kidnappers themselves. They might have an opportunity to rescue Lily once the kidnappers reach their destination, whatever that may be.
What should Chris do?
