When the Medusid-20 infection reaches its final stage, the unfortunate victim's flesh and skeleton has been converted entirely to a crystalline substance very similar to stone in texture and density. The effect of the virus bears some similarity to the process of fossilization that the bones of ancient animals have undergone over the course of millions of years, except the infection converts flesh as well as bone and the process occurs over the course of weeks or even days.
Once one of the infected reaches this final stage, they are completely immobile. However, the Medusid-20 Unified Response Force (MURF) has received unconfirmed reports of victims that appear to be fully petrified, yet retain a higher than expected degree of mobility. Our field agents are investigating these reports, and we will update the public as soon as more information is available. If you encounter what appears to be a fully petrified victim that is still moving, please contact your local MURF field office.
