Jacked – Chapter 4 Poll
SPOILERS! If you haven’t read Chapter 4 yet, you should do so before reading further.
The aliens have released Chris into his “natural environment” to observe how he reacts to the discovery that he is now biologically female - or at least outwardly appears to be. Chris has no way to determine the status of his internal organs; he can only ascertain from sight and touch that he has all the external sexual characteristics of a woman.
As much as Chris would like to believe it was all just a crazy dream, his experiences in Vietnam made him too much of a pragmatist to embrace a warm, fuzzy fantasy over a thoroughly unpleasant reality. Daydreaming in ‘Nam was a good way to get yourself killed stepping on a land mine or some other insidious Viet Cong booby trap.
Of course, Chris has no idea why the aliens did this to him. He also has no way to know that the aliens implanted a subcutaneous device in his body that will record his actions and let them track his every move…
Chris will try to get the Jeep running. He will fail. He does not yet know that the Jeep has been sitting there for the better part of a year, and that the battery is stone, cold dead. Fortunately, he does still have the supplies that he brought with him on his excursion, meager they may be: a canteen of water, two melted candy bars, a map, and a Colt 1911 .45 with 24 rounds.
What should Chris’ priority be once he has taken stock of his situation?
