May Update

Hello everyone,

Previously I promised a specific date for release of the Kara no Shoujo video under the belief that a deadline would galvanize me to accelerate my editing process. Why I thought this would work, when doing something similar was the very thing that caused my last bout of anxiety regarding being a content creator, I have no idea. Once again I've let you down, and I have no excuse for that.

If I'm going to improve then I have to be honest with myself regarding my own abilities to create in the time that I have to do so. That includes not letting my idealized versions of these videos grow wildly out of scope, this feature-creep style bloat that has wound up affecting both my KnS video and the Umineko video. Every time I stepped away from my project files I'd come back with new ideas to work into the script, secondary topics to cover or frivolous animations to add. While fun in the moment, when it comes to making content this proclivity of mine seems to serve little purpose other than being an unhealthy means of procrastinating the end result by increasing my own workload. I've been pushing the boulder down the mountain myself.

But I'm pulling my shit together. I've cut down many of the extraneous additions I made to the KnS video, but at its current ~80% completion we're still looking at a final runtime of 3 hours and some change. And, despite my best efforts to ruin it for myself, I'm still deeply passionate about Kara no Shoujo and its story, and I'm working on a crescendo in the video that I hope will really let the last act sing. If you see me doing anything on Twitter, it's related to that.

In the meantime, I've paused billing for Patreon, and it will remain that way until the KnS video is out. Irrespective of this, all backers to date will of course still see themselves credited in the video.

If you've been willing to support me through all of this then I thank you. If I've disappointed you then I understand.

My primal instincts really want to end this post with an expected release date but I'm fighting that urge. In-depth monthly updates will resume; if the video is not done by the June update then I'll post another preview with the hour of content that follows the first preview.
