Diane soon discovered that she now had some sort of intrinsic connection with the ninja girl; not only was she able to sense Reiko’s presence, but she seemed to be compelled to obey her commands. As Diane was digesting this new development, the vampire Fanglord advised them that the city guard was preparing to storm the Dancing Duchess in response to their battle earlier. They would have to flee, but the vampire had warned them that Diane, in her weakened state after healing both Luriandiil and Fanglord, would not be able to elude the archers now stationed on the rooftops outside the inn. Reiko ordered her pet to shapeshift into a less conspicuous form so that they could make their escape. Diane had no choice but to obey the command…
