Where is that Beach?

It looks like our lovely couple will be named Christopher and Jennifer! The next question is, where is that beach in the photo? The story takes place around 1970. Christopher is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico; as the story begins, he has just returned from serving a tour in Vietnam.
Jennifer, on the other hand, is a native of either California or Texas, and much of the story will take place in whichever state you all decide she is from. Californians tend to be much more liberal-minded than Texans; that was even more true in 1970 than today.
If you choose California as Jennifer's home state, both she and the locals will be a little more easy-going. If you choose Texas, they will be a bit more straight-laced. Their attitudes will affect how they react to potentially sensitive plot developments involving promiscuity and sexual identity.
So, with that in mind, where is Jennifer from?

Point well taken! By my description I did not mean to imply that nothing titillating would place in the story if set in Texas. Heaven forbid! I was talking more about general flavor. Jennifer would be from a smaller, more rural community, although she would be living in a larger city when Christopher catches up to her as the plot unfolds :)

2018-07-28 00:51:00 +0000 UTCTexas, specifically Galveston, has brown beaches and had a surprising number of surfers and hippies in the early 70s. Houston had a Black Police Chief and woman mayor in the early 1980s, and head shops were plentiful (I grew up there in the 1970s)
