Digital Damsel - Chapter 9 Poll

Nyx embraced Diane as her daughter and charged her with the holy task of aiding her followers against the infidels defiling her holy places. Toward that end, the Dark Goddess had transformed her into a cruel, winged monster with a thirst for blood.

Tossed back into the fray, Diane discovered that the players had prevailed in their battle after all; Fanglord was gravely wounded, one of his companions had been dealt a fatal blow, and the other was on the ground and disarmed. Did Nyx expect her to face the players alone?

Of course, Diane did not want to confront the players at all. She had not volunteered for this fight; Nyx had drafted her against her will. Yet as one of the Keres, daughters of Nyx, Diane’s new form had savage, predatory instincts that she had difficulty controlling.

Much to her surprise, she was able to defeat the players single-handedly - and she accomplished that feat without tearing them apart and feasting upon their flesh, as her body so desperately craved to do. She had resisted the hunger for blood, at least for now.

During the course of the battle, Diane discovered that she had the power to corrupt her prey, switching their spiritual alignment from the Light to the Dark. As a consequence, the adventurers, who had all been Light-aligned or neutral, were now aligned with the Dark.

In an unexpected twist, the adventurers turned the tables on Fanglord; now that they were Children of the Night, Diane no longer felt compelled to attack them. Fanglord convinced the three players to spare him and accept a truce, arguing that their new alignment opened the door to working together.

Yet this potential alliance brought with it an unpleasant discovery; the players decided that one of them would claim Diane as a familiar – a glorified pet, for all intents and purposes – expected to obey the player to whom she was bound. Surprisingly, they gave her the privilege of choosing her new master.
